Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was at Tuesday night's Cavs-Celtics game in Pittsburgh. Moondog, reportedly, was thrilled.People love to make a big deal out of LeBron's rooting interests, so I figure if he's fair game, so is Moondog.

From the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:

"The loudest ovation perhaps occurred with 5:48 remaining, when the Cavaliers' mascot, Moondog, appeared at halfcourt during a timeout wearing a Cleveland Browns jersey.
A serenade of boos was heard before Moondog peeled off the hated jersey and revealed a black-and-gold Steelers shirt."

Really? No one in the Cavs organization saw a problem with this?

No one thought to themselves, in light of LeBron James taking all kinds of heat for wearing a Yankees cap to Jacobs Field, maybe Moondog wearing a Steelers jersey is a bad idea. No one spoke up in a planning meeting, considering all the buzz surrounding James' appearance at the Browns-Cowboys game in support of Dallas, and said, "You know, maybe having our team's mascot rip a Browns jersey off to reveal a Steelers jersey isn't such a stellar plan."

This is a Cleveland team's mascot, after all. It's not as if this idea was so creative and so entertaining that it absolutely had to be done. Seriously, was there no one available for a fan three-point shootout or free throw contest? Unlike when LeBron shows his rooting interests, someone within the Cavs organization - at least you'd think - had to approve this.

Update: Commenter 'gobrowns415' writes that he complained to the Cavaliers about Moondog's actions and received this response.

"Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Moondog's recent "stunt" in Pittsburgh. The Cavaliers organization does not condone or support the stunt. In fact, it was a complete surprise to many in our organization that were on-site attending the game in Pittsburgh. We've addressed this with Moondog and our entire game presentation team to make sure nothing like this will happen again. We appreciate how passionate fans are in Cleveland and understand this was clearly a mistake. We love and respect our fellow Cleveland pro teams, the Indians and Browns. Our organization is packed full of die-hard Browns and Indians fans, and we wish them nothing but the very highest level of success possible."
What do you think? Does it bother you that Moondog ripped off his Browns jersey to reveal a Steelers jersey? Do you not care? Is it irrelevant? Should the Cavaliers publicly apologize? Would 23-cent Primanti Bros. sandwiches suffice? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Back in January of '06, Boomer was wearing a Manning Jersey.

Boomer wearing a manning jersey is not the same as the Pacers hosting a game in Nashville where Boomer would be wearing a Titans Jersey.

Even that is a strech because the Colts rivalry with Tennessee is not heated like Browns/Steelers.

Moondog can get a Steelers logo tattooed to his forehead for all I care.

If Cleveland Browns fans are incensed by it, then I certainly don't have a
problem with it.

Good for Moondog to show that he's smart enough to appreciate the superior football team. Perhaps I'll send him a Terrible Towel.

He'll need more than one to cover himself from all the objects that will be flown his way...

No, I get it. I was just throwing that in there. I don't really have too much to say about this one...

He'll be fine. Browns fans may hit slightly harder than the actual Browns, but the Terrible Towel should be enough to protect him.

In related news, Colts jersey sales are up in Cincinatti.
