EDMONTON–Before Jermaine O'Neal pulled on his street clothes in the wake of Sunday's 112-89 pre-season loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles, somebody noted his choice of undergarments.

Not that this is a common media pastime, but the player was wearing a pair of blue gym shorts bearing the logo of his old team, the Indiana Pacers.

Now that O'Neal is earning his $21.3 million (U.S.) salary from the Raptors, should he think about changing his underwear?

Chris Bosh wasn't concerned.

"They're his lucky shorts," said the Raptors all-star.

O'Neal did more in Indianapolis than make six all-star teams and lead the Pacers to a 61-win season. He also filled his underwear drawer with free stuff.

"I've got, like, 50 pairs. It's all I wear," he said of the navy trunks.

Maybe as a team leader he can get all of the Raptors to wear Pacers shorts.

I think he should give them all back. Wasn't 20 million a year enough? I don't make a fraction of that, and I have to buy my own damn shorts!

Punk.

Considering how "great" JO's luck has been the last few years, maybe he should throw out these "lucky" shorts and start over.

While I appreciate his efforts, I am not sure that I like the idea that we gave Jerome Williams free Pacers shorts.

Oh lordy, I wonder if JO wore his lucky shorts when he suffered his latest pre-seaon injury:

Hands up everyone who figured the season was over when Jermaine O’Neal failed to materialize for the second half? If I know Raptor fans, that little trouble spot coupled with an up-and-down game from Andrea Bargnani and another bad game from the bench had you figuring out TV plans for the draft lottery. Maybe it sent more than a few of you to the interweb to seek out Ricky Rubio highlight videos.

"O’Neal’s problem, in case you missed the morning dispatches, was tightness in his right hamstring. Nothing to do with his left knee. They’ve got today off to travel back but O’Neal told anyone who’d listen that he’d be ready to go when they get back in the gym tomorrow."

Right hamsting. Nothing to do with the knee. JO says he be ready to go. It just makes me want to break out in song!

Memories, light the corners of our minds. Misty water colored memories. Of the way we were...
