Are these guys ever seeing time for us?

I don't know about Lorbek, but Stanko will give us an update sooner or later.

Stanko the poster has retired. However, if he we're still around, I'm sure he'd say something about Stanko Barac not missing his 8th shot.

I doubt it.

My belief is that both Lorbek and Stanko will remain in Europe, and I'm not
sure it was really intended to bring them over in the first place.

It seems most teams have a player or two that they hold the draft rights to
stashed away over in Europe, and I beleive they keep them on hand in case
they are needed to make a trade work.

Like when we traded Peja Stojakovic to the Hornets and received their draft
rights to Andrew Betts, an English player that has never played in the NBA.

A team's draft rights to these European players is apparently an asset that
can be used to help facilitate a trade if needed.

While I think that it's doubtful that either of these two will ever be contributors here, or perhaps even play here, I'm pretty certain that they were not drafted to use as trading assets. I think this was an alternate strategy on 2nd rounders, taking a shot at a player who's not ready, then allowing someone else to pay to develop them.

I believe Bird has every intention of bringing them over to take a look at some point, but it won't be this year.

This might be where some of our "breathing" space goes next summer.

Lorbek seems to be really developing into a good all-around player. From the Pre-Olympic tournament to the games where they've played against Team USA and Toronto, he's more than held his own against real talent.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bird signs him to a 3-year deal next summer if he continues to develop the way that he has. I think the jury is still out on Stanko.

I get the sense that either of these guys will be at Maceo Baston levels if they ever play in the NBA. As such, I'm not terribly interested in either of them.

Bird's publicly stated that Lorbek hasn't come along like he'd hoped, but he's still interested in Stanko.

Lorbek's line looks pretty good though.

I saw the first half of this game and Lorbek looked good. JO was guarding him the majority of the time and - as can be seen by his FG% - couldn't stop him from scoring.

Not a bruiser but a very smooth stroke. He isn't afraid to post up either. To be honest, the guy I would most compare him to is actually Rasho. He's only 24, so he has room for further development.

I have the same feeling as others do a lot of the time with these "project" players, but Lorbek is a guy who I think could be an NBA player within the next couple of years.

Who knows what the future holds for our team. I think Stanko will play for the Pacers and be more productive than Bruno Sundov & Mate Skelen were. I think Lorbek will play for the Pacers and be less productive than Zan Tabek. No knocking Lorbek b/c Tabek knew his role and never tried to do anything more. He is everything you want in a seven foot 12th man.

Raptors were playing like crap that game. . .As soon as they put in the Bosh, Bargnani Oneal, Kapono and Calerdon Line up, the game was over!!!

Haha, I miss the Stanko posts, too, Duke.

Stanko come to NBA. Stanko come and take Pacer roster spot in one year. Stanko like American girl and make money in NBA. Stanko know Larry Bird he like and opportunity give him.

I can't even do it justice, haha.

Nonetheless, a nice job by Stanko. He may be #13 or #14 on the bench in a few years.
