View Full Version : I'm tired of all the rumors.

I've been surfing the Internet and reading all the rumors since the Pacer's were ousted from the playoffs, but today for whatever reason I got my fill of it. It seems to me that there are three times as many rumors floating around as usual.

I'm thinking that's because of several things coinciding this year. Because of the European influx there's more players than usual available for the college draft. We have an expansion draft. Isiah is in New York giving all kinds of quotes to the rabid New York Press. The Laker's seem to be on the verge of breaking up. And we have two top five players, TMac and Kobe, who could be available. Plus it's all more interesting this year because the Pacer's are one of the main player's and being mentioned seemingly everywhere.

So I for one am ready for something to happen.

Starting with the expansion draft (in just 4 days) we have these dates to look forward to.

June 22 . . . The expansion draft.
June 24 . . . The college draft.
July 1 . . . . . The new season begins. Teams can begin negotiating with free agents.
July 14 . . . . Teams may begin signing free agents.
August 13 . . Summer Olympics begin in Athens Greece.

I was about to say the same exact things. It seems the rumors multiply and get more far-fetched and ridiculous as a whole.

Hate to tell you Will, but figure on 2 more months of heavy rumors until FA's start signing, then scattered ones until the season starts.

I know. Everyone waits until the last moment to get the best deal they can. Most major trades happen just before teams go to camp.

Here's my suggestion for handling trade rumors. Create one thread for trades that are just made up by a forum member. Maintain all these in that thread. If anyone can provide a link to a published report of a trade rumor, it deserves its own thread.

I'm sure that idea won't fly, but it's my two cents on how to manage the off-the-top-of-the-head rumors that people post without thinking them through.

The waiting is killing me, I'm positive we are going to trade somebody for somebody. I can't get T-Mac out of my head. I can't stop reading all the rumors around the net. I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE IT"S KILLING ME :scream:

Ground control to Major Tom....
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on...."

This is irrefutable evidence that there is only one solution: The consumption of several large danishes. Or castration.

Yo - as long as it's MY kind of fishing.

My favorite is to take the boat out, throw a line in the water SANS hook, turn a ballgame on the radio and delve into the cooler full of beer.

Who wants to mess around with some pesky fish anyway?

He's been gone a while, hasn't he? I guess I figured he was still busy with his fishing tourneys or something.

Sounds about right to me. I'll go ahead and leave the hook on my line though.

....fellatioists....

I wonder if that word was in this year's spelling bee.

Can't you just see one of those little fartknockers on stage asking what the origin of that word is? And if they can use it in a sentence?

Good way to lose your rod.

Especially if one of those bass fellatoists has a hook stuck in its mouth. :o

I think we'll know if McGrady is going to be a Pacer within twio weeks. most stuff in the summer occurs around the draft and then in early June.

Free agents can't be signed until July 14th, but they can start talking July 1st and within days of July 1st it is well known who has signed where.

That reminds me . . .

Last year I drove down to the jetty to take a beach walk. My plan was to walk from the jetty to the pier and back, a round trip distance of perhaps 5 miles. It didn't happen though because I got side sidetracted. I walked out to the end of the jetty to look around and start my walk from there. About the time I got near the end one of the many fishermen got a strike and I knew from the way he was straining with the rod and how bent it was that he hadn't hooked a little fish.

I stopped to watch and then a couple more people got strikes. Then everybody was getting strikes. People started pulling fish from the water one right after another. It was a school of Sheephead. I don't know how long they get but these all seemed to be about the same size, 18 to 20 inches. I watched as one guy tossed his bait in the water and half a dozen fish went after it, actually banging into each other. I now know what feeding frenzy looks like first hand. It didn't matter what kind of bait a person was using as soon as it hit the water the fish were after it. I truly believe if someone had throw a unbaited hook in the water he would have caught a fish. The funny thing is Sheepshead are hard to hook, but not that day.

The point of the story? That day DisplacedKnick would have caught something on his line, sans hook. Well . . . most likely not, that would be very unlikely, but if it could occur it would have that day.

When I was a kid, I used to fish at this little lake near my home that was absolutely stocked with catfish. The problem was that since there were so many of them, they never grew bigger than 6 to 10 inches. Just little fellas.

Those stupid catfish were the same way. You could just literally drop a hook in there, watch a hundred of those little boogers fight to get hooked, then yank them out. You didn't even need a rod, just some fishing line.

Not much fun really.

Geezer I forgot the part you would like best. There were some girls from a local college there in bikini's jumping up and down and squealing while they watched.
