How about Rasho ? Yeah !!!!

Shade
10-10-2008, 07:21 PM
Well, early on, I see the same issues that concerned me in the first game:

Poor rebounding and poor transition defense.

In other news, it sure is nice to have one of those "big guys that can hit the jumper consistently" on our team again. IMO, Rasho > Oberto, so I still don't really understand why the Spurs let him go.

Hibbert is looking much better than the last time I saw him (at G'town). He looks quicker, his rebounding has improved a bit, and he looks like he's picking up the system fast as well. His offense still needs work, but he's got some nice moves already. Hopefully that little turn-around won't become too predictable for defenses.

Overall, though, he's been impressive. Still raw, but with the right coach, he could be an excellent big man.

I like reading his blog. Considering Josh was in the D League, and he looked good Wed, I don't think it's a big surprise. He's hoping McRoberts gets cut, and I'm sure Josh would rather play somewhere in Indiana if he were to get cut. I think I'm hoping we keep him.

At this point, I think Davis and Graham (and Jones) are the odd men out.

It's gonna be tough making cuts this time around.

Glad I'm getting to see this game live, and I think Roy will be a very good big man, in time. If he can develop a mid-range shot, he could be like Big Z with good feet. That's a good investment with a mid-1st pick.

Rush is showing more of his game, and I'm impressed. He's definitely a glue guy, and that's why he's important for the team going forward.

I think we're bricking a lot of shots we'll make once we get more reps as a team. The shots we're taking in the 2nd were good looks, but they weren't going down, for whatever reason.

As for Granger, his shooting the first two games has been pretty bad, but it's gotta be rust or just some pre-season lack of focus.

I am beginning to think that Jack is trying too hard while on the floor. He is coming in after TJ and trying to play the same style as TJ rather than playing more within himself. No need to pass when you have a clear advantage. He did exactly the right thing there, especially considering Rose already had 5 fouls.

well that is going to be tough with MDJ coming back playing the 2 and 3.

then rush getting the backup min. I hate to see quis taking rushs min at the 2.

True..
Though , I hate to see Quis taking ANYONES minutes ... lol

sorry , I just don't really care for him much , and with our logjam there , I would like to see him packaged in whatever trade we do next .. since he DOES hold some decent value ..

I disagree with that. Late in a game we need a player to put points on the board. He is our best option to get around his defender and to get to the basket. If he has the shot he should take it. I do think someone should cut to the basket so he does have a bailout though which no one has done.

the offensive play right before that, Ford tried driving by Rose and Rose forced him baseline and Ford just threw up a prayer.

Look, you have to take that sometimes because more often than not when you're as fast as TJ, you will have the advantage. You can't knock the guy for coming up empty sometimes in that situation. I think TJ has proven he is able and willing to pass the ball effectively, and while he's never going to be known first and foremost for his passing, he will get plenty of assists.

I really liked that lineup with TJ, Rush, Graham, Hibbert, and Mcbob. It was probably our best defensive lineup, and most athletic lineup... Mcbob actually plays good D at the 4 spot. I would have liked to see Danny in place of Graham and see how that lineup played.

i thought jack had a pretty good game this time out. 10 points, 6 boards, 4 assists. Only 1 TO. Don't see why people were fussing about his game.

Personally I would rather have Ford than Bayless as our PG. So who cares about Bayless, Rush looked GREAT tonight.

After watching all of tonight's game and a good portion of Wednesday's game, I love the PG play! Jack was better tonight just by being able to handle the ball.

I liked most of the play from Rasho and Hibbert, and Rush played well.

PF position with Cro was a waste tonight. Sorry, I'm not in favor of keeping Cro from what I've seen so far this pre-season. I don't care how well he plays in practice.

McBob seems to camp out at the 3pt perimeter too much. I like his hustle, just wish he rebounded better.

Davis is interesting, not sure if he really has that much to offer or anything different than McBob.

Graham played tonight and if he doesn't pick it up he's gone.

Players looked like they had an idea of what they were suppose to do tonight vs Wednesday night.

It will be interesting to see how this team plays with Dun and Murphy and a Granger that can be productive.

I assume you mean Hibbert is not good on D, which I think the jury is out on that. He has good length, size and can block and change shots. No, defense is not his strong suit, but for sure, he is better than Murphy on D and his size you cannot teach.

On offense, Hibbert is clearly our best post threat....something with practice that could be crucial to our offense.

I would tag him with Foster to shore up any defensive shortcomings.

he might be better than Murphy on defense, but for sure not as good as Murphy on the offensive end. Im talking about both ends of the court.

Hibbert is good on defense, dont get me wrong on that. But I think that Foster is just better right now. Maybe in a few months Hibbert might be better than Foster, but not right now

still think roy can become a top 5-10 center in the nba. nobody was more impressive imo than hibbert tonight. i don't even think he touched it enough. it was evident how tired he was getting in the 4th so his stamina still isn't there...jack is always out of control and i don't see that changing. i was never a fan and it doesn't look like i'll become one any time soon...ford left a ton of points on the court with some very easy misses. clearly one of our top two players (dunleavy being the other ;-) )...rush was just ok. i expect a guy to hit open js. he's a shooting guard. that's his job. he still can't create, played mediocre d, and made some horrible passes...mcroberts looks like he belongs. can't believe this guy is playing well. only a matter of time before he gets back to his carmel/duke crybaby ways...granger looks terrible...

I live about 5 minutes from the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum so it was nice being able to see the team play. First Pacers game I have attended in at least 2 years.

Got a pretty decent seat for $21.

Atmosphere was not bad. Plenty of Bulls fans mixed with Pacers fans plus a lot of people just looking for something entertaining on a Friday night. Far from a full house but still a nice crowd I think.

The quality of the game was decent enough. Not all the regulars played but enough of them participated to make it interesting. Got to see a lot of Derrick Rose and Brandon Rush, not a bad thing at all.

Pretty close game throughout, neither team ever really had control of the game. Overall I came away feeling good about the Pacers showing. A little more cohesiveness out there.

Was it me or did Hibbert seem a little out of shape? Not much of a concern though, he can shed those pounds relatively quickly.

But I was one of those people that thought Hibbert was a bad pick by Bird. I was really impressed with this game tonight. Hes going to be a gem for the Pacers

It's the preseason. They're just mixing and matching.

Hibbert showed flashes of greatness !

I was very pleased with what I saw from Hibbert last night, but can we dispense with this "greatness" nonsense? There is no greater threat to our young guys than hyperbole. Let's let the guy move from promising to good before we start heaping those kinds of expectations on him.

Was it me or did Hibbert seem a little out of shape? Not much of a concern though, he can shed those pounds relatively quickly.

I believe it was you. I thought Hibbert appeared to be in very good shape. Also, I didn't watch much of the NO game, but saw a number of people saying Hibbert was SL-O-O-O-W. That may have been the case the other night, but I did not see it last night. In fact, I thought he was surprisingly mobile. Does that mean I think he's a gazelle? No. I just thought he showed enough athleticism and coordination to not be concerned about his ability to play at this level, or to play in Obie's system.

No one else on the team has the capability to even grow in this area....and a post presence is one of our biggest weaknesses at this point.

It's not clear how good he will be in the post, but there are some good signs. He is able to get his shot off over defenders. That may be stating the obvious, but it's a critical step and more than any of our other players. His hook shot could become a real weapon with that length...he seems to have pretty good control over it. Once we have a more organized offense, he will get fouled more often...and he can convert at the line...that's where a lot of the money is coming. He is a smart, clever player who can pass well out of the post and I can tell he picks his spots and when he does so, goes at it aggressively. That is a recipe that works in the NBA.

Yes, this is the preseason and I am really high on him. I do not expect him to be the next Shaq, which obviously he is not. But I do expect him to be our starting center for a long time.
