This is the official ABA Keeper League Draft Thread. All Owners, please make your selections in this thread.

Hopefully by now everyone has had a chance to look over the protected list and draft order I sent out yesterday.

There will be no clock until 9 a.m. Indy time on Saturday, October 11. Up to that point, pick at your own pace. I will be starting the draft in a few minutes on sports.ws so owners can see what positions players are listed at and also as another way of seeing what players are available. Do NOT draft on sports.ws - all picks are to be made on PD.

Here's the draft order - I believe I have all the team names changed to reflect the current season:

Rd 1

1. Amsterdam - Michael Beasley
2. London - Derrick Rose
3. Denton - OJ Mayo
4. Charlie - Danilo Gallinari
5. Dark - Kevin Love

Rd 2

20. London
21. Canadian - Jason Thompson
22. Charlie - Brandan Wright
23. Dark - Mario Chalmers
24. West Lafayette - John Salmons
25. Bangkok - Marreese Speights
26. Indiana - Wilson Chandler
27. St. Somewhere - Luther Head
28. Fiat_Yamaha - Courtney Lee
29. Canadian - JR Smith
30. Cedar City - Robin Lopez
31. Nash City - Rashad McCants
32. Union City - Nate Robinson
33. Cedar City - Anthony Randolph
34. Gnawbone - Chris Anderson
35. Bad News - Oleksiy Pecherov
36. Venice - JJ Hickson
37. New Castle - Chris Douglas-Roberts

Rd 3

38. Amsterdam - Corey Brewer
39. London
40. Denton - Darrel Arthur
41. Charlie - Rasho Nesterovich
42. Dark - Goran Dragic
43. West Lafayette - Etan Thomas
44. Bangkok - Channing Frye
45. Indiana - Bill Walker
46. St. Somewhere - Alando Tucker
47. Fiat_Yamaha - Bobby Brown
48. Canadian - No pick
49. Las Vegas - Antoine Wright
50. Nash City - Desagna Diop
51. Union City - Kelenna Azuibuke
52. Cedar City - C.J. Watson
53. Gnawbone - Shaun Livingston
54. Bad News
55. Venice - Ian Mahimni
56. New Castle - Kwame Brown

And here are the protected players - keep in mind the NBA team listing is as of last season so those aren't 100% accurate. I've left off the positions - check sports.ws for what they're listed at. These are the folks you CAN'T draft.

Please note that I should have Kurt Thomas, not Kenny Thomas. Also I gave up my first round pick in order to keep Yi Jianlian. If either Kurt or Yi show up in your player sorts, please don't pick them. Thanks!

I just switched that - sorry. I added KT to your contingency list - he'll be yours once your 10th rd pick comes up on the site.

Besides him, Randy Foye, Marcus Williams and Julian Wright all belong to Chill.

DAMMIT! I was already targeting Yi with my 13th pick :).

DisplacedKnick
10-05-2008, 07:29 PM
Unfortunately, I can't add players past the 9th rd because the site won't let me just drop a draft pick and replace it with a player. As for Yi, he's on the protected list on the first post in this thread.

I'll be gone from now through Wednesday to a conf in St. Louis. If able decides to pick I know who I'm taking. If he doesn't, it won't matter. There's no hurry.

I'm assuming the hotel has Wi-Fi. If it does, I should be able to check in from time-to-time. Other than that, you folks can all take care of things without me.

Able uses a cloaking device. He's like the shadow of a whisp of smoke.

I just sent him an e-mail to remind him of this thread.

The guy works crazy hours so I would guess he's busy beyond belief.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time choosing between 3-4 players, so my plan is to give it until after the games tonight, and finish my research.

Should be no later than 11-12 tonight.

I'm ready to pick as soon as burnzone does.

I'll do my best to be on time; I have a big work project that was just dumped on me that I need to type up today and tomorrow if I don't get it done today/tonight. Since I'm on the PC anyway, though, it shouldn't be too hard to check in and get my pick made. But if I'm not on time, that's why. I'm guessing it will work out.

DisplacedKnick
10-10-2008, 03:44 PM
I'll be at work tomorrow myself but I can do what I need from here. No project, just that I was gone most of last week and am gone the better part of next so I need to get stuff done.

Anyway, if you need me to pick for you, send me an e-mail with a list and instructions. I'll post a longer message in a separate thread tonight.

Wow. The picks aren't quite going the way I expected. I was all ready with a top five and ready to pick, but now it's out the window with some of the guys available. I'm going to have to rethink things. I'm probably going to wait until the draft officially starts. I was gonna make my first two picks then out the door for work, but now......

Just a warning - I told everyone not to use the site to draft with. Just ran across an owner's draft page with a big contingency list on it. I assume that's for reference but anyone who has used sports.ws to put up a contingency list will lose that shortly after 9 a.m.

Keep your list on paper or something else, not on sports.ws.

That's fine - just don't build a list (you haven't Doug). If you want to add a player you've just drafted, go ahead. That's what I'm doing so we can stay as up to date as possible and get this party started quick once the draft is over.

I'm out for a bit - heading to work. Should be there before the draft is due to start (about half an hour from now).

I shouldn't say this but that was a semi-empty threat. I'd say everyone will get their full 15 at least once - we skip someone once though and the second time they won't get the grace period if they still haven't shown up.

Consider MY heart now broken. Hicks, Chris was my sleeper pick for late in the draft. I think I was disciussing him a bit with Rim.(?) Been tracking him since before summer league. I was hoping people weren't noticing him, then he has to start showing what he can do in preseason.

Okay guys. I'm leaving work and have to drive home. Should take me about 20 minutes, so don't skip me, if you can. I have a while to go, but with folks dropping off, etc, I don't want t get passed over. Got one last, late ditch guy I'm hoping to grab.

True, problem is he might very well not be competing at all for long stretches ;). OTOH... being the 12th player on a roster there's not much risk and he could reward you nicely if he does manage to play say 50 games or more. Could be a very nice complementary player then I guess :).

Had to put a 12th man on to fill the roster and finish the draft. That is now done. S'pose I could've added a crap player to finish the draft then immediately gone to the lineup page and make an add/drop but that seemed a few extra wasted mouse clicks.

:woohoo: :)Thanks! It's been a rather trying volleyball season, with one of my girls racking up a lot of DNP-CDs for no apparent reason. Their coach wasn't there today, and the substitute changed the line-ups around. Both my girls got plenty of playing time, played well, and the team won all their games and the tournement. That was the happiest I've seen them about volleyball in a while.

Sort of like their "break out" games :). I remember with my own coach I used to play center all the damn time both on offense and defense, while I most definitely am a center on the defensive side with my physical strength and love for playing that way, I was much more like a forward on the offensive end (good midrange, an acceptable 3PT shot, nice turnaround jumper and LOUSY close to the basket post moves).

That was a problem through almost two seasons and I spoke to him about it multiple times, then he misses a game and his backup plays me exactly the way that I had been advocating and have basically the best game in my (modest) bball career. Sometimes it goes that way I guess...

Offcourse when the old coach came back... he returned me to my old sets... so, at the end of the season I left the club and joined another one ;).

Anyway, glad your girls got to show their stuff now, must make you feel good indeed :).

Doug
10-11-2008, 02:30 PM
I'm sure once their coach is back next week it will be back to the old ways. Which is too bad. One of my daughters has been clearly outplaying the girl in front of her, but no change in the line-up.
