Ouch, Russell Westbrook, and Thaddeus Young going off the board before my pick........decimating the top chunk of my contingency list.

Just kidding, great picks there guys, I figured there wasn't much of a shot for those two to stretch down to my next spot.

Not in this format, IMHO. His per minute values are below average, his main value is that he plays a lot of minutes and can soak up any extra minutes if your better per-minute-average players are injured.

He's a .85 - not bad for the 8th rd. If the 8th player in your rotation is scoring that, you're pretty strong. Whether he's great as a Keeper's another story since IMO his numbers won't change a lot but for pure production that's pretty good at that point.

Jose Slaughter

Ooh man, Louis was my #2. Interesting.

I originally had another player ahead of Williams but since I had time to think about it, I switched them. Williams is a lot younger than the guy I had thought about taking & considering how young my roster is I figured... why take an old guy when I can get a young one thats still improving.

To be honest I had to pass on some front court guys that I would rather had taken, but I really need to address my very thin backcourt.

SoupIsGood
09-27-2008, 11:10 PM
I almost put Williams over Landry, but I've never really seen the guy play and while it looks like he's got immense promise, he's still really young and I'm guessing very raw. I went for the guy who if the knee issues aren't too bad will put up some pretty decent numbers this next year instead of having to wait 3 or 4. Of course if Williams blows up next year I'll feel pretty dumb.

It doesn't help that the amount of NBA games I've seen in the last two years is probably <20. We were doing this back when I was in high school my drafting would have been much more informed.

Jose Slaughter
09-27-2008, 11:14 PM
This has nothing to do with how a guy plays, its all numbers, nothing but numbers.

Jose Slaughter
09-27-2008, 11:42 PM
Guys

I've already sent out a couple PM's but I've decided to post this for everyone.

I know its a weekend, I know we all have other more important things that take our time but could we take a few minutes to help finish up this draft.

Avoiding the Clowns had a computer problem that took him just short of 24 hours to make his pick.

In that time I got PM's from just 1 guy.

Just 1 friggin' guy!

What makes this even worse is that we are at the end of a round where the guys picking will be picking again at the start of the next round.

We could have rattled off 10 or 12 picks in a matter of minutes instead we're setting here at midnight waiting on guys that may not log on again until Sunday afternoon.

I'm not asking for a 15 player list from anyone but I don't think putting together 7 or 8 names, especially this late in the draft should be that difficult.

Jose Slaughter
09-28-2008, 02:08 AM

Here's kind of an example of something I don't fully understand.

At 171 Robertmto made his pick at 2:56, shows it right on his post.

Intridcold, Sheboygan is then on the clock.

Well if you look at the bottom of this page it list the Members who have read this thread & if you hover your mouse over each persons name you can see the last time they viewed this thread. Not the last time they posted here or the last time they were on Pacers Digest but the last time they were actually on this thread.

In this case Intridcold last viewed this thread at 5:08.

So he was on this thread 2 hours & 12 minutes after the last pick, while he was on the clock.

Did he make a pick?

Did he PM anyone?

Did he go to review a player list?

Did he get up & go to the bathroom?

I guess not.

It's now 11:57

This is just another reason why I got a little upset lastnight then I comeback to this.

Fantastic.

I understand that I was on at 5:08. But I did not have my list at that particular computer. That may be a poor excuse, but that is it. I was at work. Work came through the door and I did not have time to make a poor pick. I would not have picked any of the last people. I am not angry. THis late in the draft I don't see a big deal skipping people. Skipp me next time to punish me. I do care, but some things are more important than a 172 pick in a fantasy basketball draft. Now if it was a first pick.... Sorry if I angered anyone.
