I'm interested in a new or at least an alternate/secondary logo for Pacers Digest. One that doesn't use the Pacers' actual logo (like we do now).

I'm curious as to what our talented folks around here can come up with for some new ideas and some different looks.

Make more than 1 if you'd like. I'd prefer something that if not including the letter's P and D together, at least the D.

I'm interested in anything: Something classic, something modern, something post-modern, something simple, something complex, something featuring a player or his silhouette, anything that looks good.

Bonus points if it looks good with a background color of #FFC422 or #002E62.

Anyone feel up to trying some things? If it takes you 2 hours or 20, as long as it looks solid, I'm cool. Work as much or as little as you like.

Please don't take my criticisms personally or take it personally if I choose not to go with a design. I feel that this is a great way to generate new ideas by seeing what everyone comes up with. My hope is that after a number of ideas are submitted, that one will stick out to me as something I want to use.

Tell me what you do or do not like, and I can change it. I laid myself off today, so I'm loafing.

I think the way you laid out the text is okay, but the basketball isn't working for me. There's also the issue of it having "jaggies".

Without the ball. I'll get rid of the jaggies when you find one you like. http://www.cciwebdesign.com/pd/pdlogo.png

That's better. I'm not sure I'd say it's what I'd want to roll with, though.

I should get this out of the way before any more ideas are passed along: Please don't take my criticisms personally or take it personally if I choose not to go with a design. No problem. The main thing is to get what you want, the same as we do with our paying clients. Can you be a bit more specific about what you would like to see on the logo?

Hicks
09-08-2008, 01:39 PM
Well, right now I'm really looking for variety amongst submissions. If I truly knew what I wanted, I would have gone ahead and tried to do it myself, but I can never settle on one idea.

I like to make themes sometimes (there's a theme based on Batman/The Dark Knight in the templates selection, for example), but I've yet to come up with "the one" idea and say "that's it."

Well, that's true at least when it comes to something original. I loved going with the modified Pacers logo that we still use and it's the best thus far.

But I think it would be cool to have something completely unique that doesn't lean on the Pacers logo itself.

I don't mind if whatever comes up winks at it, but I'd like it to stand on its own.

That's the best use of P and D together I've seen. :) Not so hot on the font, but I really like how you put the letters together like that and it comes out looking like a solid logo.

I'd be curious to see it with: Same font for p and d, but different ones for "pacers" and "digest".

I'd also be curious to see if any other fonts work that well for the p and the d.

bellisimo
09-08-2008, 05:25 PM
initially i didn't have Pacers Digest written out on that...think it looks better without that...but i'll play around with it and post some other versions later on :)

Hmm. Overall, I'm not "digging" the oval behind it. Liked it better as just a square.

1) Feels like I'm Willy Wonka. ;)

2 and 3) Not a big fan of Sportscenter. :D

4) Best so far (well, except for the oval), and I'm aware it's the same font as before. Any others that feel similar in terms of solid, flat lines, hard angles?

Est 2003, man man man... where has the time gone.. Just an off track thought...

Like the designs designers, got some real talented people around here...

Just a thought, I thought a secondary logo was like one that was on the shorts, so either just a PD or something close, some of these seem almost too dominating EA a primary logo, could just be me, the Fence Sitter..

Any chance these are going in to production, I could see the next forum party rocking up in Custom PD memorabilia...

Hicks
09-10-2008, 08:11 PM
It's another good effort, but I'm just not "feeling it."

On a side note, I like those white vines you added.

And nothing against LeBron, but if there's a silhouette, it should be a Pacer (current or classic)

My favorite stuff:

This one too if it could swap out the outline of LeBron with Reggie standing with his arms on his hips/waist area.

http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/6004/pdlogowoodsr1.jpg

Could I see this one with a hint of blue, gold, or yellow infused into all that white? Reminder that it was 2003, not 2004. :)

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4707/pdlogonewex2.jpg

I'd be interested in seeing this with Pacers Digest spelled out instead of abbreviated. Actually, we kind of did this before. That looks like the same font. This was back around 2004.

only thing i would say is, the blue background maybe just slightly dominate and could use a lil colour or a different layer threw it... maybe a very faint pacers digest outline in the background.. just a thought...
