Why keep Sorgi over Gray or Lorenzen?

Brannon Condren getting cut is the biggest surprise to me. The Colt's carried him on the 53 man the entire season last year, essentially giving him a pro "red-shirt" season. And almost all the practice reports had him performing very well. He got beat out by rookie UDFA, Jamie Silva out of Boston College. Jordan Senn, UDFA out of Portland State making the roster knocked me for a loop as well.
Five tight Ends and six wideouts seems an awfull lot in two positions, but Roy Hall, Gijon Robinson and Courtenay Roby will see lots of special teams action.
Here is the current active roster:

I'm happy they chose Mike Hart over Kenton Keith.

Aromashodu being cut is surprising for me....did he really do any less than Roy Hall?

Colts fans should all rest easy. This shows that they aren't to concerned about Peyton's knee.

Roy Hall is a solid special team wedge buster. Aromashodu doesn't have any special teams value given that Roby probably won the KR job. Probably was the difference.

Sphere - Justin Snow is a TE on the official roster only. Has not actually practiced at the position since college I would bet. Long-snapper all the way.

Why keep Sorgi over Gray or Lorenzen?

Because those two suck. A lot.

Condren got beat out by Silva, more than likely. Condren is on the practice squad I think.

The Biggest Suprise for me was Jeff Charleston. He was a solid player for the Colts very good against the RUN.

Not too many surprises to me. I was a bit surprised with Condren and Charleston, but if they don't get picked up by another team they could be added to the practice squad.

I'm just happy they kept Courtney Roby. He is an excellent runner and handles the ball very well. I am very surprised that the Titans waived him.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Roby's little brother plays for the IU football team? Courtney's Alma Mater.

You should capitalize RUN more. Look jonathan I respect your opinion and all but we will get runned on more than we get passed on this year. Charleston will probably be on the practice squad anyhow where he would be on any other team.

Lets hope Bill Polian knows what he doing more than Donnie Walsh.

Condren was quickly swiped up by the Rams.

Also the Colts claims two free agents of the wires: DT Daniel Muir from the Packers and LB Buster Davis from Detroit.

No word yet on who the Colts will drop to make room for these two.

Anyone know anything about Muir? He actually might be a good pick up just looking at his size.

Found some stuff on stampede blue.

Told you! Just because the 53 man roster is "set" for Saturday, August 30th doesn't mean it is set for Kickoff Weekend. The Colts claimed waived DT Daniel Muir from Green Bay (http://blogs.jsonline.com/packers/archive/2008/08/31/no-claims.aspx). Muir is 6'2, 296 pounds, and is known as an interior pass rusher. Muir is in his second season, drafted by the Packers out of Kent State. Interestingly, Colin "not the dumb actor" Ferrell is also a DT out of Kent State (http://www.kentstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=1449681&DB_OEM_ID=11400). Ferrell was waived by the Colts yesterday despite a solid preseason. Both Ferrell and Muir fit the mold of the under tackle in the Tampa 2 defense Tony Dungy employs. Prior to Muir's signing, second year player Ed Johnson was the only legit <STRIKE>under</STRIKE>over tackle on the roster.
Signing Muir likely means that Indy will not sign the recently waived Montae Reagor or Larry Tripplett. No word yet on who was cut to make room for Muir.

Its odd that we don't have an interest in Tripplet or Reagor. I kind of understand Reagor if he is still screwed up from the accident but tripplet was a guy who cashed out right?

Triplett, I believe went to Buffalo for bucks but then I think Seattle waived him. Ex-Colts don't have the best track record with other teams, which is good for us.

Despite what Stampede Blue says though, I think Muir is an under tackle, the position Raheem Brock played last year.

I know Davis was a LB a lot of Colt's fans wanted last year in the draft. He is undersized, but appears to be well suited for cover two.

I feel it was right to the 2 backup QBs brought into camp because neither really showed more then Sorgi has in the past.

That being said, I really wish we had another backup QB besides Sorgi.

It would be nice to get someone like Chris Sims who I believe was cut by the Bucs

DB Jamie Silva and LB Ramon Guzman are both missing from the roster on www.colts.com. I assume they were cut for Davis and Muir.

I double checked and I think you are right. I actually liked Silva and Guzman was a good run support.

We still need a crazy guy with scary hair for run support. Every team has one.

WR-Devin Aromashodu

Damn.

From what I have seen of the WR's on the field, I was hoping he would stick as well. He did a really good job of filling in last year when we had injuries and seemed to be getting comfortable in the system and, though I like Roby, Aroma seemed like he had more potential in the passing game. I guess they just felt Roby and Hall had more versatility. I think guys are being kept more so than in years past strictly on special teams value. Hopefully, it will pan out. We have nowhere to go but up.

Kraft

Yeah, I imagine after Rushing got hurt, Aromashodu was done for. Without having to keep Roby as a returner, the Colts might have kept Devin as a sixth wideout. After TJ's injury, it became clear Aromashodu would've had to beat out Pierre Garcon, which I didn't see happening.
