It's apparently true. I thought you had to put a guy on waivers and they had to clear waivers before you could trade them after July 31st. I don't know exactly how trades like this work though, maybe someone could explain it to me.

Ahh...I get it now. The Reds did put him on waivers, and the D-backs claimed him. Then they have a set amount of time to negotiate a trade with the Reds. That works out really good for the Reds because by claiming him off waivers the D-Backs are on the hook for the rest of Dunn's salary. The D-Backs must have heard the Dodgers hoofbeats.

Good, I can go scalp tickets two for ten dollars for the rest of the season unless the Cubs play. I do not like the move but they were only guarnteed two sandwhich picks if he did not get his contract renewed. I did see Hanigan catch in the AAA allstar game this year.
