I just got a call from a friend (I know, I know) who said that a reporter from Sacramento was just on saying that Tinsley is supposedly going to be dealt to the Kings. He had no details, but...

I just got on line, but I'm trying to confirm. I deeply apologize if this is a wild goose chase.

They didn't learn from their mistake of taking our unwanted player the first time around? This sounds too good to be true.

Point guard says he and Kings agree to five-year contract

By Chad Ford
ESPN.com

Updated: July 1, 2008, 4:10 PM ET

The Sacramento Kings found a way to keep their starting point guard, Beno Udrih, despite some fierce competition.

Udrih and the Kings have verbally agreed to a five-year contract for the full mid-level exception, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com.

Assuming the full mid-level comes in at $5.5 million this year, Udrih would get a contract worth $33.3 million. The same source said Udrih would have a player option for the fifth year of his contract.

"I am so happy and honored to be returning to the Kings," Udrih told ESPN.com. "They took a chance on me and believed in me. I can't wait to get back to my teammates and the city that has become home to me."

The Kings outbid the Los Angeles Clippers, who also offered Udrih a five-year deal for the mid-level. Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy flew to New York and met with Udrih at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday morning -- the earliest NBA teams were permitted to commence negotiations and strike verbal agreements with free agents. Dunleavy was persuasive, but at the end of the day Udrih wanted to return to the team that gave him his big break.

The new contract is quite a turnaround for Udrih. For his first three years in the league Udrih was a little used back-up in San Antonio. At the start of last season, he was traded to Sacramento to fill in for the injured Mike Bibby. Udrih broke out and averaged 12.8 points and 4.3 assists for the Kings last season.

I'd do that in a heartbeat.

I'd also meet Ron Artest at the airport with a check for $7.4mm and tell him to have a nice life.

We'd save $10mm (at least) on the Tinsley buyout, and cut $7mm off each of the next two years (after this one).

Tinsley for Artest is a no-brainer for us.

Good call. Heck, I would even try to parlay Artest to some other team as an expiring.

Because Ron is crazy and kept switching his mind about opting out... now that he didn't opt out, he is, of course, unhappy with his ultimate decision.

Anything on a Tinsley trade?

I doubt it very much...they've done an interview with somebody about the ESPY's, then came back and talked about Les Miserables, and are now talking about Brett Favre possibly coming back. You'd think that if there had been serious conversation about Tinsley being traded (or a done deal), they would've come back to it pretty quickly after the scheduled ESPY interview.

However, Kravitz is a moron, and Eddie makes him look like an absolute genius, so there's no telling one way or the other.

I'm guessing this is a wild goose chase.

Tinsley and Williams for Artest work..... :p

But to be serious for a sec...if it did happen, thats another 7m in cap room after next season. I would rather put up with Ron for 1 year, than Jamal ever again..especially if you have to buy him out.

Wait a minute! How two-faced can a Pacers fan get?

You (or fans like you) complained about not ridding the team of any and ALL players involved in the Brawl fast enough, yet you'd take back Ron Artest - the primary reason the brawl happened in the first place - just to be rid of TinMan?? (And note I said the primary reason it "started", not "esculated". That was Stephen Jackson's fault, IMO. But that's just my opinion. Regardless, let's NOT rehash this debate, please.)

Sometimes, I really don't get some of you. :banghead:  :suicide:

Shhhhh! Re-read Burtrem's post...

I saw "I'd do that in a heartbeat," my head got dizzy and the room went dark.

Thanks for correcting me 'cuz there's no way any Pacers fan in his/her right mind would ever think of bringing that nut-job back...right? :o (Please, oh, please tell me my fellow comrades in Pacerland are smarter than that!)

Not true. The guys were talking with a beat reporter from Sacramento about Artest being unhappy.

Eddie playfully offered Tinsley and an old water cooler in exchange for Artest.

Deal is: Tinsley for 3 used roulette tables, a craps table with 20 pairs of new dice, 10 decks of unopened cards and a lounge waitress to be named later.

Larry's holding out for another craps table or maybe a few blackjack tables. That French Lick casino is about to get some Vegas style upgrading.

When I could listen to streaming audio (ahhh, those were the days) I couldn't do Eddie and Kravtiz. Eddie was always screaming at a 10, Karvitz talking at 6 and the call-ins about a 3. It was unlistenable.

Tinsley for Shareef works and the Kings might actually do it. Kings have a glut of Power Forwards with Williams, Thomas, Shareef and newly drafted Jason Thompson. And if there's not a crazier owner than Cuban, it would be the Maloof brothers.

More than anything, it's wihful thinking.

Sure they deny it now. But just you wait till the Maloofs sweeten their deal by adding in the old tote board out of their sportsbook, 500 cocktail glasses and 1000 square feet of slightly used red velvet.

Just like "the JO deal is dead", this is the calm before the mega used casino goods for Tinsley deal.

Personally I think Larry is dumb for holding out on those Keno cards.

Actually, I think Bird is holding out for the hotties that were with the Maloofs in their Hardees commercial, and I'm having trouble not agreeing with him on that.
