Walter Sharpe...a 6'10" 230-lb small forward...with narcolepsy

Really, I know nothing about this kid aside from one youtube clip and his pre-draft measurables. I just had to say it in the title....

Then I open the thread and got a good chuckle.

Umm....

Falling asleep against your will can cause disorderly conduct and shootings?

It seems like someone might be trying to extend the fix for one problem to a whole collection of other problems not connected in an obvious way. I don't know anything about the guy, but it doesn't make sense.

I've known a narcoleptic. It can be a serious problem if you crash out taking a test, driving, exercising, etc.

I just have a problem with connecting it to violent behavior.

How does narcolepsy correlate to violent behavior?

It does not logically.

As for the shooting, I think it said he was an innocent victim. Not sure what to make of that...

I can't believe you guys traded away DJ White. Thank God I don't have to see him in a Pistons uni.

The really odd thing is, Mike Davis coached both Sharpe and White, and gave his analysis of both players to Dumars.

Mike Davis really, really liked Walter Sharpe, apparently.

White would have been great on the Pistons. I was hoping you'd keep him.

White is the type of blue collar player the Pistons would have loved.

I wouldn't know if to laugh or cry if this other guy just like conks out on the court in the middle of summer league.

I was too.

But, that's why I'm a fan and Dumars is the GM.

Dumars wanted a small forward, and felt we had too many PFs. If we didn't already have Maxiell, Amir Johnson and McDyess, I'm guessing we'd have kept DJ White.

His (very funny) drawback aside, Dumars made it clear that he drafted this kid with the intention of putting him on the active roster this season. So obviously he saw something nobody else saw.

At least he only occasionally falls asleep. We're still waiting for Jamaal to wake up.
