<!-- end player card -->PORTLAND, Ore. -- Three-point specialist James Jones (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3752) became a free agent Thursday after deciding not to exercise his contract option with the Portland Trail Blazers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=por).

The option would have made Jones a Trail Blazer through the upcoming season and paid him about $3.1 million.

Jones averaged eight points in 58 games last season. He had 91 3-pointers.
Portland acquired the five-year veteran forward last year on draft day. He can begin negotiating with other teams on Tuesday.

Wouldn't mind having JJ back at the right price.

I doubt we could afford him, but I hope the dude gets paid well somewhere.

If we trade Shawne Williams for a pick and go big with it, JJ could be a perfect fit to come back here.

JJ is starting to get the "well traveled" reputation.
