Adam,

Since you're an important part of the Pacers franchise, we wanted to provide you two pieces that will be placed in Sunday's edition of The Indianapolis Star.

The first one is a Q&A with Pacers forward Danny Granger. In the Q&A, Danny talks about his interests in video games, sci-fi movies, civil engineering and local charities.

The second is written by Coach Jim O'Brien and discusses the importance of the 3-point shot.

As a friend of the franchise, we'll be sure to continue to e-mail you new profiles on players and coaches.

Ignite the Passion. Restore the Pride.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I watch a lot of movies and play a lot of video games. Stuff to relax me because I'm always busy playing ball. I'm kind of a sci-fi junkie. I was always a fan of the Star Wars movies and I love the Lord of The Rings.

What kind of video games do you play?
I play online multiplayer games where you play with other people around the world and stuff. I'm really into the whole storyline of that. And I love Rock Band.

Check out the full Q&A here.

O'Brien: Good Things Come In Threes
Coach O'BrienThe 3-point shot is a huge element to what we do, offensively. When you have players on the perimeter that can create spacing and draw defenders away from the lane, it opens the middle for drives and post-ups. Conversely, if you have good drivers of the basketball it creates great opportunities beyond the 3-point arc. Most importantly, if you have a dominant post presence, teams that decide to trap the post will pay dearly against good 3-point shooting teams.

"Ignite the Passion, Restore the Pride" was a "dropping" from the focus group I attended near the end of the season.

It definitely sounds like a "dropping."

Could be a good Viagra slogan though.

I also got an e-mail from JOB this morning, but it was more along the lines of Mark Foley than this. I'd share it but he told me not to.

Danny is just awesome. Professional sports need a lot more people like this guy (and a lot less people like Sheed).

BTW did anybody notice the sweet Spiderman shirt Danny wore to the track when he visited before the Indy 500? No way in hell do you see Jermaine wearing something like that.

Uh - I guess to each his own.

To follow up on MagicRat's post, the Pacers ran a smaller add from Jim O'Brien talking about how much his team liked to shoot 3's and then had the full page picture of Danny Granger and the interview from Pacers.com. Pretty cool, I thought!

Credit for the PR effort where due.

Now make some moves this offseason that make me believe there's truly an attempt to get the team moving in the right direction-being a winner sometime in the reasonably near future!!

Danny is the coolest basketball player I know. He's really nerdy yet a really talented basketball player too. How could you get rid of a guy like that? Yeah, I guess JO turned 17 once. :o ;)

Can you get over just how much energy is being put into this PR effort. Good to see, I'd be Simon is behind this, or some of his biz people.

Just think about how early in the off-season this is happening, non-draft stuff I mean. This is team identity stuff and being done early enough to have an impact hopefully. You want people to know a couple of these personalities long before the season starts specifically so they'll care that the season is starting.

I'd guess they are throwing more time, effort and money at in than the last few years.

Maybe not, but JO is far from an unapproachable a-hole. The guy is very open and genuine IMO.

Granger's piece was absolutely brilliant. If this is not his real personality then whoever is in charge of P.R. should be given a raise at twice the amount they are making.

As to O'Briens part. I threw up in my mouth a little bit trying to read that. Are you F'n S'n me???? Rick Patino???? This explains a lot, actually.

But since this is about the efforts the Pacers are taking in the P.R. department let me state that they are so far making all the right moves this off season. Now let's actually see some player movement and a great draft and a new coa.... er um, no off court troubles (yea that's what I was thinking).
