The new Coldplay album is great.

The songs feature a new sound by the band and some familiar sounds with some of the slower-paced songs.

But as usual Chris speaks with intelligent thoughts and the songs are very meaningful.

Some stand-out tracks I think are: Lost!, Death And All His Friends, 42

But I really love just about every song on the CD.

I give it 5/5. I think it's great.

I got sick of coldplay about half the way through A Rush of Blood to the Head.

While I didn't find it funny, I think he's just joking (Ever see 40 Year Old Virgin?)

Yeah, pretty different from their previous albums. Less emphasis on their guitar work then "A Cold Rush of Blood to the Head", but more then in "X&Y". I dunno, bit difficult to typify it, but I like it and as always very melodious which is a Coldplay trademark really :).

so an indie-rock band from brooklyn called the Creaky Boards is accusing Chris Martin / Coldplay of plagairism. ironically the song they claim was plagairized is called "the songs i didn't write."

take a listen to the two songs...

eUhFLiw6h6s

they claim chris showed up at a CMJ showcase and heard their set / this song.

there is some similarity but i don't think it would be enough to claim plagairism. really, the video commentary reads like sour grapes when he starts mentioning how his song would fit better with iTunes commercial.

Some similarity, but not close...you'll find similarities if you are looking for it...

Sour grapes, as you said, it sounds like...

Some similarities, he may have a valid point.

But he also sounds like a whiny indie prick and isn't handling the situation correctly at all, if a case is pending you don't go rant about it on youtube like a *****. However this guy is probably a loser who has never been in a situation where tact needed to be used so he doesn't know any better, what a fool.

"Lovers In Japan" (super melody), "Death And All His Friends" (LOVE the guitar work in that one) and the intro instrumental definitely great too, though the latter is TOO damn short! ;)

Downside of the album is that they didn't split "Lovers In Japan" and "Reign Of Love" (I think) song into two different tracks.

I can't believe that guy is so shocked that two different people could have stumbled across the same boring melody.

Life in Technicolor is the best way by far to start an album. It gets you sunk so to speak into the music.

Not a bad album 7/10

I'm kind of that way.

It only took me one listen and then I started to really like it.

One of the best of 2008.

Really? I thought it was ok but I was really underwhelmed. Probably on par/slighlty worse than X&Y and significantly worse than Parachutes and ROBTH.

It gets better on the third and fourth listen but nothing that entranced me like Viva la Vida. Although I do love 42.
