I don't know if this has been noted on PD yet but I found it sad to find out that William Gladness died recently after what seemingly is described as a mysterious illness. May William rest in peace.

Wow, I remember him. He passed away over a week ago, from an unknown illness, and there was no mention of it before now? :wtf:

R.I.P. William :(

shade, that surprised me a lot too. William must not have kept up with the university after he left. Plus one would imagine that part of this is because he was a JUCO transfer so we only knew him for 2 years. Maybe the fact that he was part of the Knight era is a reason that the university hasn't issued much of a statement - the people in place there now from Greenspan to Crean to Herbert to McRobbie, none of them really knew William. Not that a bigger name like Guyton or Bailey wouldn't get attention, just that Gladness really wasn't a household name. As evidenced by this thread, or lackthereof.

I know what you're saying, but it's still ridiculous.

Well, I just saw this, and it's a shame. Seemed like a good kid, and always gave great effort on the floor.

Actually... I was just taken by surprise by it and not sure what to say. To hear of an unexpected death out of the blue and then for it to be attributed to a 'mystery illness' just seems to lack the closure you'd hope for.

It's a shame that this wasn't bigger news in the local papers of those of us in the Bloomington area.

His senior year was my first down here in SA. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I was a student at IU when Gladness played for us. It is extremely weird to know that a guy I cheered for in person and saw around campus is now dead. :(
