The Nets are crossing their fingers for a miracle during Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery in hopes that a high pick could yield them Carmelo Anthony (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/831/carmelo_anthony/), according to The Record (New Jersey).

Multiple league sources have said that the Nuggets and Nets are discussing a blockbuster trade that would send Anthony and Marcus Camby (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/63/marcus_camby/) to New Jersey in exchange for a package that includes Richard Jefferson (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/295/richard_jefferson/), Marcus Williams (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/677/marcus_williams/), Keith Van Horn (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/244/keith_van_horn/)'s contract and New Jersey's lottery pick.

The Nets have a 1.1 percent chance of landing the top overall pick, and just a 4 percent shot at falling in the top three.

"You're always looking to do something to make some sense," Nets president Rod Thorn said. "If something presented itself that we felt could really help us,. then we might look to move either or both of our picks. But right now it appears to me we'll stay with at least the 10th pick and probably the 21st also." [READ] (javascript:rgmow('/rgmow.php?aid=52589','52589'))

Now most of you know that I am no fan of Melo, but this deal does automatically make NJ a real contender in the East.

But that gives NJ a lineup of Harris/VC/Melo/Kristic/Camby

If Kristic ever gets healthy the Nets could be a very dangerous team. But I don't really see what this trade does for the Nuggets at all, unless they just see Carmelo as too much of a character problem.

IMHO it makes Boston/Detroit/NJ all legit title contenders with Cleveland and Orlando being very good as well but still on the outside looking in. This trade does even out the conferences a little bit as well.

Have the Nuggets soured on Carmelo that much that they are willing to trade him?

Admittedly, the deal is pretty good if they can get Carmelo AND Camby for ( what pretty much amounts to ) RJeff+filler+1st round pick.

It just sounds too good to be true for the Nets.

When did Carmelo and Camby go on a killing spree in downtown Denver?

If they want to get rid of Melo that much I am sure that we could put something together

Dunleavy/JO/1st round pick for Melo/Camby/Filler

GO!!!!!

I don't see it unless they throw in Harris and not the draft pick maybe..

The Nuggest need a Point Guard more then Jefferson.. Williams might be the guard they need but i doubt they make the deal...

This sounds credible.

The local nightly news in Denver reported "talk" of this trade, as well......Kroenke likes to roll the dice, obviously

Man, if Denver's giving away players for free I hope we get in on the action.

The equivalent trade might be if we were lucky enough to land the #1 pick. Would we then be willing to package the # with J.O. and another starter for filler, for Melo and Camby?

I'd hope that if we got the #1 overall we'd like... use it or something.

I dunno... there's this PG named Rose that people are talking about. I'm not sure Indy's ready for another guy named Rose who thinks he's a PG. Maybe we should trade the pick, just to be safe.

This will never happen

Doesn't RJ have that assault case pending too? This trade look terrible for the Nuggets.

I think it's about trying to find something that works for Denver, since a Melo-lead team is not working. I don't get it. Why rebuild around 33 year old AI and not n24 year old Melo?

I know I wouldn't. I would like the prospect of having Rose way too much, besides with JO it's either biting the bullut for just a relatively short time until his contract ends and likely shorter as his attractiveness for other teams skyrockets in the last year of his contract. Add to that Rose would be on a rookie contract and that JO still has defensive value and isn't a non-factor offensively either (though not near what he used to be).

I'm opposed to trading JO now, but sending the nr.1 pick if we were to get it along with him... I would ask for a lot more then an aging Camby and a former 3rd pick who though despite beying a great player does have some issues if only in the perception of the fans.

Just my :twocents:
