I just picked up a used Fender Blues Junior amp the other day. I only paid $260 for it. I've been trying it out quite a bit the last few days and really like it. Its a 2006 model with the new reverb circuit design.

I am wondering if any fellow guitar players have owned one of these. If so did you perform the Billm mods or put a new speaker in it? Thanks ahead of time for any knowledge you have.

I assume since you described the mod by name, you've been to the site:

Yeah I've seen it. I'm just looking for some opinions from guys who have had the amp. This Machrone guy is ultimately trying to sell me his product. I've just always heard that Fender biases their amps hot because it makes them sound good.

I don't play guitar but I enjoy the fact that you can make a statement like "I got a BJ this weekend" and be totally cool. Good times.

I wonder if there is a guitar & amp forum out there in the world somewhere that can answer your questions.

Personally, I am from the effects pedal era, and used hot tube amps to naturally compress the sound. I currently have a fender deluxe but its a pale comparison to the sovtek 60 head I used to own. Good luck!

Yeah I posted the same question in a few different spots today. Most people are saying they purchased the mod kits AND replaced the speaker. Perhaps that is what I'll do.

You have a Deluxe as in Deluxe Reverb? Is it vintage or a reissue?

You are playing with some nice equipment there. This BJr is the loudest thing I've ever owned.

I've only really used solid state amps.

I'm sure there is something on the net that could help you as it's quite a distinct amp and modifications. It really never hurts to upgrade the speakers though.

Again, like Los Angeles I generally use effects to achieve the sound I want and don't worry too much about map settings

oh those were the days. I haven't plugged in an electric guitar in 5 years.

I was in a few bands you never heard of. But then I found design and surfing and I've always meant to return to it.

The fender deluxe was a sort of "all purpose" 2x12 combo tube amp they had out around 2000. I never would have bought it if it weren't foe the sovtek going postal on me.

My greatest claim to fame was that my band played CBGBs around 95.

Those were the days .... :)

I listen to bands that don't even exist yet, maybe I know what band you were in. What's the name?

From 1990 to 2000 I was in a few different outfits.

Quiver, Living Daylights, Automatic Earth, and backing up Olenka on guitar.

I was on a few records with limited pressings. shortly thereafter, several freind from that bloomington scene got deals and toured and the whole bit. I just missed the window, packed up the gear and my last $200 and moved onto my sister's couch in Chicago. Recorded a mostly acoustic solo EP in 2003, and that's been it for me since. gonna have to get around to releasing some of this stuff on the interwebs one of these days.
