Yeah, the little fella sure put on a show tonight. The only thing that would've been sweeter was for his "heat check" shot to have gone down.

Sounds dirty.

I jus absolutely LOVE IT when Travis steps up and makes the naysayers eat crow....

I been on the Diener wagon since he got here....

Was a good game, fun to watch, but I dunno about "making naysayers eat crow" he scored 18 points against a bad team. It's going to take a lot more than that.

Good win, all in all, too little too late though, we aren't making the playoffs.

If he wants the "naysayers to eat crow," he needs to do it a lot more consistently and against better competition.

It's games like this that make other teams salivate about paying JO $20mil/year.

Let's give Diener the credit. He was hitting many of his late 4th QTR shots. I too love it when his shot drops....but for some reason...it's not as often as I would hope. :banghead:

His shot is often off...even if they are wide open shots.

I think his uncle.. the "shot doctor" as he calls him.. is really helpin him out...
The thing with Travis is.. he is VERY unselfish with the ball.. As I have read.. he has to be encouraged to shoot the ball from his teammates....
Bird KNOWS the guy can shoot the lights out the building.. that's why Bird brought him here.... I think once travis gains his confidence in his shot again , that we will see how well he CAN shoot .. I think this 4th quarter showing in his hometown nonetheless , may be the spark of confidence he needed..

(on a side note... I notice since he has been keepin his legs a little fresher off the bench , and working on his elevation during his shot , even when he IS tired, he has been shooting the 3 better.. I also notice that travis is a way higher percentage shooter when he just steps about 1 to 1 1/2 step inside the 3 point line.. he seems to drain em easier..}

We shall see..

Travis Diener makes the offense run. Until Tins gets back, he's the best option we have at point...tonight he made that point clear.

I wish Travis could his shot to fall really consistently like this all the time. If he had the lights out shooting to go with his really solid PG skills (5 assists, no turnovers) I would feel good about him playing a prominent role as PG of the team. If you could get another PG, like a Jarret Jack or something, who is a very strong defensive PG and had the two split time. I think it could potentially work.

Diener is definitely the backup PG we need. If he shot this well all the time he would be the starter. He moves the offense better than anyone we've had in a long time. But we need that defensive PG, probably a starting PG, or player around him that can compensate. Danny maybe. If he p;ays the last 5 games on this level then theres no way he goes into next season not listed as our starter. But I want a guy who can push him and hopefully overtake him.

Its like football almost. You want that finesse running back to wear the defense down, and that bruiser to finish the job.

We need a good 6'4 PG who can play defense and can post up and penetrate. Flip has been looking good and I think people are overlooking him. If we go 5-0 and go 12-3 then we are playing better than our .42 indicates. Like.33 better. 75 percent to finish the season and if we don't make the playoffs at least we have momentum and optimism going into the offseason, even if we only close out 11-4 or 10-5.

Do or die time against Atlanta. Who would hold the tiebreaker?

Anything is possible. It is still possible we make the playoffs and shock Boston, though not very likely.

For all of you saying he needs to shoot this well all the time, or that you wish he would, he hit SIX out of EIGHT 3's. That's not normal for ANYONE.

Well of course not, but we can hope can't we. :D

what if he starts hitting this well more frequently, maybe that gives us 5 more wins next year. Add a couple players who can do the same and we are back in business.

Only like a half of year of playing time under his belt, I'd say he is learning the system just fine for a split time PG.

best game ive been to all year. ive been to about 15-18 games this season and this w/o a doubt was the most electrified i have ever seen it. it was a beautiful thing to behold when we went on a 9-0 run to take the lead back and give the P's a standing O when the bucks called timeout

I hate it that I totally missed this game. My two favorite players have great games - Foster and Diener and I miss the game completely.

Didn't you even record it?

Myself, I had wrote them off. Ten points down starting the third and although they were trying they just didn't seem to have it. I thought about coming on here and saying, "turn out the light, the parties over." Then they come out in the third like a dog with his tail afire and go on a 19-1 run.

Best turnaround I'm seen since the Colts come back on the Patriots on their way to the Superbowl title.

I don't know if anyone saw this, but before the guys came on the floor in the 4th JO grabbed all of them and gave them what appeared to be a pep talk. I pointed out to everyone in our section, so if you sit in 227 then you probably know what I'm talking about. Anyway, right after his "talk" we went on a 19-1 run....yes, I know Diener was the key component in this stretch, but I thought it was good to see JO step up to the plate.......for what it's worth.

It's nice to see J.O. do that, I hope we don't ship him off this summer.
