I have to admit, both of these teams have really surprised me this season. I'll be pulling for Memphis, since they haven't won a title yet.

Btw, if I had the #1 pick, I would take Rose over Beasley.

Yup, and not based on need, either.

I'd take Rose unless I was one of the 4-5 teams with a top, fairly young PG - Utah, New Orleans, etc.

I thought until about the Sweet 16 rd that anything but UCLA-NC would be a huge surprise. Memphis made me a believer as the tournament went on but I still thought Kansas was the weak sister (not really weak but not on the level of the other 3 teams) until last night.

I'll also be cheering for Memphis. Time for someone from a non-power conf to win it all.

Kareem is gonna be at the game. Just read that. So he will get fined but who can blame him? I'd do the same thing. He wants to see his brother play and nothing wrong with that.

I don't really care who wins. I like both teams players and coaches. I'm just glad that UNC won't be winning it.

Kansas and Memphis did me in on the PD NCAA pool. Dropped from 1 to 10. I don't really care who wins but Memphis is incredibly athletic.

Makes you wonder just how good Davidson really was.

Would anyone consider Memphis to be a modern day sort of 1989/90 UNLV team (gambling questions aside) and Calipari to be sort of a young Tarkanian?

I always felt like Calipari was sort of a sleezy type of guy, who would do whatever he had to and say whatever he had to to get his guy...

I don't know, I was just throwing it out there.

I don't watch enough Memphis to say one way or another.

Chalmers plays pretty impressive defense.

If Memphis loses this, it will be an epic choke job.

Wow missed free throws hurt Memphis.

They still have a chance to win this game. I hope D. Rose is ok though.

Memphis just choked this thing away. They missed about a hundred free throws in the last three minutes, and now they have an OT without Dorsey. If they lose this game, both of their losses will be because of their inability to hit even 60% of their free throws.

Wow, what a finish to regulation. Memphis cracked like an egg in the final 2 minutes.

That was a sick three.

I don't even know what else to say.

Rose missed that FT. Maybe he will fall to us.............................LOL

This thing is over. A choke job for the ages. Unbelievable. Kansas is on an 18-3 run soince the 2 minute mark of regulation.

I feel so sick for Memphis right now. Lots of stupid mistakes down the stretch. What a choke job, and neither Rose nor Roberts were immune. They were 2 minutes away.

Oh, and I'd love to have Chalmers on this team. Great defender, tough as nails, and looks to be somewhat clutch as well.

Memphis really looked flat here in OT. I mean they had a cleal slate there but they just have looked awful in OT.

Mario should declare after this. I would take him over Collison and DJ Augstine.

And I ask again; just how close was Davidson to winning this whole damn thing?

I'd take Chalmers over those two as well, but none of those guys are going to be longtime starters in the league, IMO. A fine backup pick, though, if you're at 22-28.

The last few minutes of the game I was thinking that Kansas had blown it. They built a lead in the 1st half by pounding it inside and then went away from that.

That was before Memphis REALLY blew it.

Kept waiting for a team to be within 10 of them with five minutes to play.

Good game - not that well played but fun to watch.

I said the following in the NCAA tournament thread, post 251...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Memphis' inability to make a free throw is going to haunt them in the near future."

___________

And it did.

How 'bout them free throws?

Free throws don't get you on youtube. Who would post a free throw there? "Check out this nasty free throw, dude!"

Power dunks where you then slam into the defender walking by are way more cool.

Seriously, those kids are going to take a beating for this, when any one play could have changed the outcome, not just the free throws-- one less turnover, on less stupid foul, one extra pass.

Still ,1-5 down the stretch... they call them "free" for a reason. They needed an AJ Graves type 90% shooter guy off the bench to handle the ball at the end.

I can't believe we actually pay someone to play basketball who shoots free throws like that. What a joke.
