I admit it - I'm a glutton for punishment...

Shaq already wiped out Big Ben on an offensive rebound and dunk without being called for a foul... :unimpressed:

I have to think that Sheed should be a plus for the Pistons in this series, since he's so used to playing against Shaq and Kobe from his Portland days...

Just from watching a few minutes of this game it looks like Big Ben isn't going to hinder Shaq from scoring too much, Shaq looks like he can overpower him just as well as he does everyone else.

It seems Shaq brought his A game tonight , I don't see Detriot having a answer for Shaq.

Which makes them in common with every other team in this league, unfortunately. When Shaq is on and he's motivated (and he's getting the calls), what can anyone do?

Wow, did ya see Billups flip backwards over the row of seats while chasing down that loose ball? Too bad he couldn't have done that in our series! ;)

Yeah I seen that ..looked nasty ;)

Reggie was guarding him a lot of the time? :whoknows:

Well, I wasn't going to watch this, but I was curious to see how the series was called. Detroit isn't getting away with all the same contact, BUT they are still able to push the Lakers offense away from the basket. This has surprised me.

As for the Pacers, I'm more impressed with how tough we were, especially on defense, after watching the first half. Detroit should be up by 10 points if RIP was dropping his wide open jumpers like he did against us.

I think you'll see a diffrent game in the 2nd half , I think the first half was just a feeling out process.

My guess is you won't see Rip have as a sucessful series as he did in the ECF , I think Billups could be a factor though.

I have to admit: I'm eating this UP! Go East!

Me too. One of the main reasons why if I had to pick a team to root for, it would be the Pistons, is that it would help to dispel all the "the EC is the JV division of the NBA" crap...

This would be a huge win for the pistons , if they can hold on.

TheSauceMaster

Sheed has been big even with Early foul trouble , Prince has been Big also and Billups has just been Huge in this game.

And the Pistons are doing this while Hamilton is having a bad shooting night! (only 4-15)

I bet you guys all the West and Lakers fanboys right now who think the East is just that midget you have to shove to the floor to win the title, are thinking "What the hell?" right now.

This is just precious. Everyone wanted to pretend the reason we and the Pistons put up high 60s final scores was because we sucked. WRONG. We both play kick-*** defense, and Detroit has continued to do so tonight.

I mean, if I'm a Lakers fan, I'm terrified because Rip Hamilton, the Pistons BEST scorer, has SUCKED on offense tonight. Sucked. And they're up double digits. Great moment for the East right now if Detroit holds on.

BostonConnection

So I guess we have at least one question answered: Can the Pistons win if Shaq and Kobe both have big scoring games?

Shaq: 34 pts, 11 rbs; Kobe: 25 pts; Lakers lose by 12 pts.

Yup. :D

TheSauceMaster
06-06-2004, 11:50 PM
The Pistons could have easily won by 20 , they made too many turnovers and alot of missed layups.

You won't see Rip Hamilon go off this series like last , Billups clearly is much better than LA at that position.

Hicks
06-06-2004, 11:52 PM
Actually Hicks I am hearing the Lakers fans saying what we said.

"man we are just missing, it isnt the Pistons D"

This game wasn't even that good nor that close. If Pistons protected the ball better they would have won by 20.

Yeah, they may be saying the same things we did, but like us they're gonna learn after their team goes home disappointed it's no fluke. They'll have better games, but nothing way better.
