You forgot John Crotty. :unimpressed:

I wouldn't mind having....

Jamal Crawford [doubt it]
Chris Andersen
Quentin Richardson [doubt it]
Stromile Swift
Rafer Aston [great energy and offense]
Trenton Hassell [I wanted him last offseason]
Fred Hoiberg [two Freddies! Whoo!]
Brent Barry [after an offseason filled with rumours of us trading Ronnie for him]
Hedo Turkoglu [if only to keep him from hitting game-tying threes on us]

And any of the option players, minus Horry and Potapenko.

According to that Orlando article http://www.floridatoday.com/!NEWSROOM/sportstoryS0602MAGIC.htm

"Golden State is about to lose center Erick Dampier in free agency..."

Could you imagine Dampier here again!!! That would be a formidable frontline.

He'll probably go to somewhere that can afford him, but its nice to dream.

I don't think damps is all that , Jeff Foster is Fine , He just needs to fine tune his game alittle , I think Jeff Could Be Better than Rik Smits if he works at it. , our biggest needs are SG , Backup PG

Yeah, I'm happy with Jeff. I wouldn't mind having another big body [somebody like Pollard, but somebody who plays], but strengthening the guard positions is the priority.

He's not too bad. I'd like somebody who can get the offense moving a little more, so there's not as much of a dropoff when Tins goes out. Maybe AJ can get better at that, he did a decent job this series.

And I really, really want Jamison to play more.

The other Blount was Cory.

I'd like to see Brewer get more time, because whenever he played this season, he played with a kind of energy and hustle that guys like Darrell Armstrong and Haywoode Workman used to play with.

True, but I can't see any other teams being interested enough for him to leave. I predict he'll be on our training camp team, and make the roster again this year.

Bob Sura
Marquis Daniels
Rodney White
Damon Jones
Brent Barry
Etan Thomas

Any of these guys would be OK by me.

I've been a big fan of Andersen's since he came into the league, he is my favorite non-Pacer, so of course, it will never happen.

I wouldn't mind getting Stepania from the Blazers either.

Actually priorities are:

1. SG
2. Improve C if available
3. PG

These could change if a large trade were made, wiping ouit depth at SF, for example. In that case we would probably be satisfying a need at SG or C and thus would have to immediately shift attention to plugging the hole left at SF.

TheSauceMaster
06-02-2004, 02:12 PM
I would move Center too 3rd Priority

I would too - and then by the mid-season trading deadline look to see if Foster has improved his jumper...b/c that is what we need. If not...maybe look for a C who has that shot in his repetoire.

Dukins
06-02-2004, 02:23 PM
Im with beast. SG is a must and Center follows closely behind. We have been getting by with Foster at the C. We have to have some beef upfront though with a decent shot. If only Foster can work on his jumper this summer that would be huge.

I'm assuming that use of the MLE is somrhting we won't do, due to luxury tax issues.

Has DW said that directly?

The thought of adding Brent Barry for the MLE makes me drool.

I think we will gain a bit of money with Ferry's expiring contract as well... (4.545 million)... That should be enough to land a free agent (provided that we won't still be over the cap... which is a possibilty)

i forgot about ferry's contract. that would be nice to get that money freed up. i am not so worried about foster as our center. it's the pollard thing that bugs me. i didn't realize just how much he sucked. he pulls down over 5 million a year just because he is big. his shooting touch is so non-existent he makes foster look like a young reggie. if we could somehow send him anywhere, i would be more than happy to help him pack his bags. he didn't play much for a reason- he was a total non factor out there. if we could do it over i would not even want anything from sacto because pollard does not fit in here and never will. the 2 guard should be top priority. we stopped playing foster against detroit because with him we only had 2 scorers since tinsley is still improving his shot and was banged up. reggie gave us far too little on the perimeter. this won't get any better in the backcourt unless we get a hold of some guy (i haven't figured out just who yet)
we MUST get more guard play to get better. more outside shooting and slashing to the hoop ability. jones is nice but he is still young and will need some more time and he is our only other true 2 guard.

Ferry's contract was only good if he made our roster last season. He did not, so it came off the books before last season started.

That was a big reason the deal went thru.

Guys I would consider (restricted free agents are not even fathomable in my opinion):

Brian Cardinal-I can't believe no one mentioned him in this threat prior to my post. I'd love to see his type of hustle in a Pacers uniform.
Mark Blount (if he opts out)
Chris Whitney (cheap, decent backup point guard)
Eric Williams (good defender but we are stacked at small forward)
Brent Barry (good scrapper, nice shooter, can spread defenses)
Manu Ginobli (just all around good)
Eric Dampier (if he opts out)
