View Full Version : return of edge?

I was flipping around the radio today and I caught a little bit of :kravitz: and eddie white talking about the possibility of Edge getting cut in arizona and coming back here for cheap.

Sounds too good to be true, and they were probably speculating. Still, the idea was pretty exciting to me. Instead of the one two punch of Addia/Rhodes we had in the superbowl, imagine Addai/James.

Could there be anything to this, is there any conceivable reason Arizona would cut edge? Is he due a roster bonus or something, or was kravitz talking out of his ***? I turned it on in the middle of the conversation so I didn't get a good feel for if they were talking seriously or just jacking around.

Did anyone else hear this? Does anyone listen to :kravitz: ??
I need answers folks.

um that would be fantastic

I can't really find anything to substantiate this. I wish I knew what brought this conversation up on the show....

Sounds like they were just speculating, but I do think they are right that Edge will be elsewhere next season. I think Arizona is going to take Jonathan Stewert.

I think they'll trade Edge though instead of cutting him. Lamont Jordan is a guy that could realistically get cut and would be a nice addition if he'd come cheap though.

I don't really see a way Edge wouldn't be in Arizona next year. I really want Dominic Rhodes back, he'll probably get cut by Oakland, he barely played this season. Even with a year off you'd think he still knows big portions of the offense. Probably come cheap as well.

Either James or Rhodes would be great and make alot of sense all the way around.

Edge coming back would be dumb - you already have a guy who's established himself as a #1 running back - does anyone think Edge doesn't still view himself that way?

Rhodes is another story - he'd probably be much more accepting of being a backup.

Here is where they got the idea: http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/108514

While they talk, the future of such Cardinal mainstays as running back Edgerrin James and linebacker Calvin Pace may hang in the balance. James' salary-cap number is $6.75 million next season. The Cardinals could save his actual salary of $5 million by releasing him.

Oakland should cut Jordan and draft McFadden or trade Jordan for a draft choice.

The Raiders have many other needs then RB. I also think Michael Bush is going to be a pretty good player. I think he would have been a contender for OROY if he had been completely healthy going into training camp for Oakland.

I don't think Edge will get the boot out of Arizona this year because they actually played well this year and having a vet and proven RB like Edge could always help them get to the playoffs..but the guy is nearing the end of his career. He has absolutely no breakaway speed at all.

Addai is our guy, Edge had his time to shine, and could have stayed...but he took the money and ran while we got out long awaited championship the next season. I respect what he did for us but Addai is our guy now. Thanks but no thanks.

So you wouldn't want Edge as a backup for that reason only?

well, actually i guess i wouldn't mind having him as a back up, but i was assuming if he came back some would want him to start rather then addai. that was my assumption.

The Colts don't need another small running back, they need a big back who can get the 3rd and 3 in the red zone. Besides who needs the drama queen and all the hype about whether he would show up for summer camp or not.

Edge is small? 6-foot, 220?

Edge just isn't a guy who's known for getting 2 yards when you need it. Of course, I wouldn't consider Dom Rhodes that, either.

Yes Edge is small when compared to Full backs, and that is what I meant by a big back. He like Joseph A. are more of a finesse type of backs.

I saw Peyton Hillis from Arkansas play a lot, I like him. A late-round pick on him would be worth a shot. Seems a really versatile h-back type.

This years draft is extremely deep in terms of quality RBs. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Colts take a RB in the 3rd or 4th round.

While I wholeheartedly agree, that's much easier said than done. Tanks that have wheels like a sports car are hard to find. I love Jacobs and would love to have him or someone like him on our team, but it ain't easy.

I agree.

Also, as far as drafting a back, why? So the draft is deep on them then great but if Edge is willing to be a backup then take him. He's better than Keith and anyone that can be drafted.

The Colts have other needs to use their picks on especially since they are without a first this year.

I would take Edge back because he was so great at blocking and receiving, something that Keith struggled with at times...

This team isn't going to add a fullback, at least not as a free agent or draft pick ... maybe just an UDFA like Luke Lawton. It's just not how the offense works. The Colts believe, and have for a long time now, in getting their third-and-short with precision, not power. It's the 4-yard slant route. The perfectly-blocked stretch play.

Want ground it out? Don't watch the Colts. That's not who they are.

DeShaun Foster got cut today. I don't know much about his blocking or pass catching, but he's an adequate runner. He may want too much money to be an option, but anyone interested?

DeShaun Foster is a mystery. He played really well back when he was the change of pace guy for Stephen Davis, but as soon as the Panthers gave him the starting job, he's been pretty terrible. He's definitely talented and part of the problem could have been the Panthers mediocre OLine and offense. With that said, he's going to command to much money. He'd be a pretty nice fit for the Colts though.
