View Full Version : Ann Strother picked up in expantion
A little Fever news...... http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080206/SPORTS0403/8020605 Indiana Fever guard/forward Ann Strother was among 13 players selected today by the Atlanta Dream, as the WNBA’s newest franchise took its first step toward assembling its first roster.
According to a news release, the roster also includes: Carla Thomas (Chicago Sky), Erika DeSouza (Connecticut Sun), Katie Feenstra (Detroit Shock), Roneeka Hodges (Houston Comets), LaToya Thomas (Los Angeles Sparks), Kristen Mann (Minnesota Lynx), Ann Wauters (New York Liberty), Jennifer Lacy (Phoenix Mercury), Kristin Haynie (Sacramento Monarchs), Chantelle Anderson (San Antonio Silver Stars), Betty Lennox (Seattle Storm) and Yelena Leuchanka (Washington Mystics).
The Dream also received Indiana's 24th pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft, in exchange for agreeing not to select specific unprotected Fever players.
Strother, a 6-3 shooting guard who averaged 2.3 points and 0.8 rebounds in 12 games for the Fever last season, has been with Indiana since 2007 .

Oh, I do love it. It's just an overall great move. Great on-court and off-court presence.
It will be her Locker Room presence that will make the difference here. Just a great pick up

Yeah, she is a great leader. I think that her ability to lead will really help out with some of the younger girls on their team. She will be a great influence and role model.
I agree and I dont think there had been a better locker room presence in the entire league. She will bring the spirit and the heart

Yeah, and how important is that going to be for the younger kids on the team? To have that kind of veteran leadership? It will just play a huge role come playoff time.

TA you need to realize that she is a Power force.

I recognize... She's going to bring spirit and heart into the locker room.
Thats not the dispute, she is clearly gold, the real problem is the commentators
She is so underrated that once you see what she can do with her team you will be floored

This will be an overlooked move coming into the season, but when playoffs come around...people will truly see the effect she's had on the team.
That is where her talents lie, in the playoffs...and in the lockerroom and in the huddles. She is a Coaches player and a Players Coach

She definitely gives 110% every single game. Don't you think that attitude is going to rub off on all the other players?
02-21-2008, 12:16 PM
But how will this affect the pants party? THAT is the question!
02-21-2008, 01:26 PM
I'm not familiar with her views on pants. Is she pro pants? If so, I think that may be sending the wrong message to fans. I don't know if they're ready to hear something like that...yet...
02-21-2008, 02:57 PM
I just find it interesting that the Fever wouldn't protect her. I'm telling you guys, they know something we don't and it involves pants!
02-21-2008, 03:18 PM
Do you think that she was not quite "meshing" with Indiana's much publicized "no-pants" mentality. Perhaps TPTB within the Fever organization realized her views on pants, and felt as though they wouldn't mind cutting their losses with someone who shares similar, incongruent feelings.
I think she will mesh well with everyone involved in this. Her feelings on pants have been kept to herself for the most part but she is supposed to be a more vocal leader this year. It will be a great pick up
02-22-2008, 12:26 PM
But does it matter if she's a vocal leader when she is leading by example? What happens when she shows up to practice one day with pants? She is not setting a good example. I don't know...my feelings are starting to change on her...

Let's just be glad that she's no longer with the team. She's their problem now. Then again, knowing Atlanta, they probably like their women wearing pants. Weirdos.

Very interesting take, rcarey. Could Indiana keep her and this "pants" attitude much longer? I say no. The question remains, however, how far will this expantion go? How far is Indiana willing to go to take people's pants off?!

You are just letting the media change you from your original smart thinking ways of her being a great addition. Her old team is running a smear campaign on her pants policy. Don't let that affect your thinking on her there my friend. She is a true player
02-23-2008, 11:15 AM
I think she is just going to go out give 100% (cause 110% is impossible) and she is going to turn her franchise around and re-write the record books.
02-24-2008, 05:34 PM
She is not a 110% kind of gal. She wants so hard to be but her determination makes her 100% seems more like 110%
02-25-2008, 12:36 PM
She will never be a 110% player, she just doesnt have it in her. Unless you are giving her the extra 10% for her heart and determination?
02-25-2008, 10:05 PM
Well than maybe she is giving 120%, 10% for her pants and 10% for her heart and courage. Now giving 120% makes her the best player
02-25-2008, 11:47 PM
This could cause a problem for sure. I don't think the management thought that she might be too good for the team. Chemistry might be rocky for a while. This is going to be the storyline of the season.
