One thing certain about the location of the Colts' training camp this summer is where it won't be: Indianapolis.

Colts president Bill Polian confirmed as much Friday, while also saying that a return to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology isn't a given. The Colts have trained at the Terre Haute, Ind., campus since 1999, but the team's contract with the school expired last August.

Polian categorized a return to Terre Haute as "a possibility. I wouldn't say it's a probability. It's a possibility and we're looking at other venues as well.''

Polian would not divulge alternatives the team is considering. A return to Anderson University might be one option. The team trained there from 1984-98, and the school has since upgraded its football (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080119/SPORTS03/801190459/1058/SPORTS03#) facilities.

Chris Williams, Anderson's director of communications, wouldn't say whether the school and team have had specific discussions about this summer, only that "we have remained in touch with the Colts since they left and this year is no different."

The team previously has explored holding training camp at Butler University, St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Earlham College in Richmond, Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill., and Louisville, Ky.
Last summer, Rose-Hulman officials estimated that more than 27,000 fans, a record, attended the team's three-week camp.

That would really suck if they move. I like the reports we get from our resident Colts training camp spy.

Haven't the Colts been threatening to leave Terre Haute for the last few years? They just can't seem to find anything better.

Anderson is north/east of Indy PCF. Seriously I wouldn't sweat the idea of the Colts going to Anderson. If the Colts pick another site think more like the Louisville area. Having said that I hope you enjoy yourself in TH again this summer. ;)

Anderson University went through a major upgrade of all sports facilities. My sister plays volleyball for Manchester College and comes to AU to play each year. I was amazed at how much has changed.

Hoosier Digest

The Indianapolis Colts are close to returning to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute for training camp.

"I think we're closer with Rose-Hulman than we were (last week),'' team president Bill Polian told reporters as he left the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday afternoon. "We've made some progress. I think we're heading in the right direction.''
The Colts have trained in Terre Haute since 1999, but their contract with Rose-Hulman expired last summer.
