Holy Hell! Amazing, breath taking, spectacular, wonderful... so many words can describe this movie. Go and see it. The first 10 minutes I'm just sitting there all relaxed, feet up on the chair, just chillin. THEN THE **** HIT THE FAN, and from then on I'm on just mesmerized. Sitting at the end of my chair. Movie just rocked my world.

I'm not gonna say anything about the movie yet, I'll wait till more people see it.

I give this movie 7 out of 5 stars.

Does it give you motion sickness though.

I actually either will see it tonight or for sure tomorrow.

Not sure really why but I expect this movie to be a huge hit - great trailer, great marketing, geared towards the right audience. if the word of mouth is decent, it will make over $200 M for sure

Unclebuck, the two Bourne sequels hurt my head, but oddly enough this movie didn't 99% of the time. I don't know why.

I saw a 11:45AM showing today, and I'd give it a very, very solid "B". I see so many (including Mr. Pink here) raving about it as "TEH BEST MOVIE EVAHR" and I just don't see it, but I think if I were to purely rate it on technical achievement it'd be an "A", but as a movie it's a good "B".

I'd easily recommend checking it out, and I did enjoy it, but I just can't call it amazing or anything like that. It's well done, it's entertaining, I'll more than likely buy the DVD, but that's it.

Quick question... did they show the new Star Trek movie teaser before the film?

I'd like to see the movie, but it takes a lot to get me to a theater.

EDIT: Nevermind, I went and found the teaser on YouTube. That was excellent.

The hand held camera was pretty shaky at first, but I got used to it and it didn't even bother me at all rest of the movie.

The Plot is simple, the acting isn't amazing, but I just loved the idea behind and how it's put together. Comedy in the right places, I don't know, but I just really really loved this movie.

I want to see it but im scared that it will shake alot like Blair Witch Project...also do they show the monster at all in the movie ?

Hicks

Yes you see the monster.

The camera is definitely moving around quite a bit. It's like Blair Witch in that regard. Most of the time that didn't bother me in either movie, but yet in the Bourne Supremecy and Ultimatum, it did.

It was an OK film. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars.

I don't think they'd survive the helicopter crash, but oh well, it's a movie.

Good action, decent film, not very long at all, either.

Marlena is amazing.

Shame she died, but damnit she looked good. (I'd let Bob Sanders blindside me to get with her.)

Nice avatar, BTW.

I enjoyed it quite a lot. It works as a straight up monster movie as well as a comedy and a lot of suspense because you don't just see the monster tearing up the town the whole time.

Did anyone catch the trailer for "Iron Man"? It looks like that could be a good one. My take on Cloverfield, the originality if you consider a monster tearing through a city original, especially when one of the protagonists is on his way to Japanand special effects alone make this a really good one. The ending disappointed me some, but what could you really do with it?

The shaky camera gave me motion sickness more then a sense of reality. I understand the reasoning for it....but after 10 minutes of it....it became less of a sense of "Wow, this is what is really feels like if it happened to me" feeling and became more of a distraction.

I had to turn away and close my eyes when they weren't doing anything of importance ( like running from place to place ).

The theater manager came in to talk to us prior to the movie starting, saying in the prior showing 3 peple actually got sick. So he pointed out where the trash cans were, and asked us to please us them if needed, because he was tired of cleaning up messes.

I really didn't think the camera movement was that bad. Only two times where a sudden movement caught me a little off guard I'd say. I don't have a weak stomach, but I definetely don't have an extremely strong stomach either.

I watched a cam version of it and liked it a lot. If you thought I Am Legend was short, this is 15 minutes shorter and has MUCH more action. Pretty disappointing. I'm fine with how they made it, and I very much like it, but I wish there was a ton more, and wish they would remake it as a blockbuster to replace the turd that Godzilla was.

Any movie that stars Matthew Broderick, aside from Wargames, is automatically deducted 4 points from the possible score on the 10 scale.....I'm just sayin'

The camera movement didn't bother me at all. I can easily see how some could have a problem with it, but I thought it added to the movie. Pretty impressive given what they spent to make it. I will go see it at the theater, if I can find someone who's not too much of a Nancy to go with me......The wife is out, she doesn't like the genre, and we'd have to find a sitter. Couple friends I asked are both referred to as Nancy now. I refuse to go see a movie by myself. Hopefully someone else in my circle of friends can have their balls drop soon enough so I can see it before it is gone.

It was a really good movie. The motion didn't bother me at all. It was weird at first, but then you just adapt to it, and it becomes normal. It actually does make you feel like your there with the camera moving around a lot.

I would recommend everyone that doesn't get motion sickness REALLY easy, to go see it. It's a great movie. I wish it wouldn't have ended how it did, but hey, that's how it would have happened.

Marlena?? You guys are obsessing about Marlena??
Lol, Beth was the hot one!

CLOVERFIELD SUCKED!! Let me say that again CLOVERFIELD SUCKED!!

The whole handheld camera thing was stupid. Okay, it has been done. It was cute at the start but after that it got old. Plus the acting was terrible. When they made jokes I wasn't laughing because they were funny I was laughing because they were horrible. I did not care one bit about those people either. I wish they had done more with this giant monster distroying New York (sidenote why can't a movie like this ever happen in say Miami or some place other than NY?). As for this movie lasting too long when I left I looked at the person I saw it with and said well that is three hours wasted because that was how long it felt. The best part was when they girl exsploded. That to me would have been a good chance to exsplain what was going on, or what happened to her. I felt like I had been raped after watching that movie. I had a sick feeling in my stomach like something very special to me had be taken away, roughly.

Worst movies ever:
1 Waterworld
2 The Cable Guy
3 Cloverfield

This movie has the most extremes of people who loved it or hated it of just about any movie I've heard of.

I have a CAM version, not sure if I even want to watch it. I'm certainly not going to go to the theater and see it. I guess I'll wait to see the DVD.

I liked the idea behind the movie and it seemed like a true account of what would happen in that type of situation. I did however have motion sickness in more than one part and my head is still hurting me hours later. But I have a weak brain for too much movement.

Good movie though, not great. I should have waited to download it cause it wasnt worth my $10.95

I am Legend MUCH better.

Let me add my review.

It didn't suck, it wasn't great.

It was, to a point, an original way to tell this type of story. Having said that, I hope no one ever does it again in this fashion.

I'm with Hicks on this. Borne I would get a headache from, this for some reason didn't bother me.

Also side note, at any point in time in the subway did anyone expect Casper Van Diem to pop out with a machine gun and start shooting???? (yes I know a lame starship troopers ref., so sue me I'm a nerd).

Anyway, as one of the posters already said, this movie is probably going to be one of those that elicits very opposite emotions from people. You are either going to love it or hate it most likely.

I happen to fall in-between on this. I found it entertaining, however I would not call this a good film.

I've heard there is already a sequal planned. If so, I hope to God they don't use the same story telling concept.

Oh, one last thing. For those of you who want to know the why's and the how's before you leave a film, you are probably going to hate this. As you know nothing more about the monster after you leave the theatre than what you did when you entered.

That isn't entirely true...

At the end when Rob and Beth are riding the ferris wheel at coney island and they pan out over the merry go rounds, you can see something fall from the sky and make a gigantic splash in the ocean in the lower right of the screen. It's pretty obvious that the filmmakers want you to believe that it's the monster.
It's easy to miss, especially the first time around.

That's not what they wanted you to think it was, and it's not that big.

It's supposed to be a satellite falling from orbit, which is what disturbs the monster out of his slumber deep in the ocean

Yep.
Go to www.1-18-08.com (http://www.1-18-08.com). Its a viral website with lots of different photos with dates on them. Including one of what appears to be the air force and Navy fighting the monster while it is still at sea. Along with one of dead whales washed up on a beach.

There is a sequel planned as well. It will be shot in the same fashion, and it will probably either follow another group of people through their experiences with the monster or it will follow the military through its dealings with the monster. Which could include us finding out that the U.S. knew about the monster before it made landfall if you will.

Everything I've seen where the producers point out that something fell in the ocean, they will never specify what it is. So that part of it is open to interpretation. But at the very least it has something to do with what happened.

I'm not gonna search for the link but Abrams said it is a satellite and that the monster had been dormant in the ocean for a long, long time.

Well I finally watched a TS version of it. Didn't care for it that much, didn't hate it though.

I would actually love to see a sequel as long as it was a conventional movie, not a another "handy cam Blare Witch type" movie.
