I don't remember seeing this posted here, and I think it is interesting.

Prior to becoming an ESPN station on January 7th, there will be another change for WIBC. From what I understand, starting the day after Christmas WIBC's current programming will go ahead and move to 93.1FM, and on 1070AM, between Dec. 26th and Jan. 7th, they will be doing a "best of" Indiana sports. This will include repeats of broadcasts of games played by the various teams, and events they have had the broadcast rights to over the years. This would include the Pacers, Colts, IU and IMS motorsports events.

Could be interesting.

Okay, that could be really cool. Too bad the Colts were on WFBQ last year.

The Colts own the rights to any Colts broadcast so last year's AFC Championship game and Super Bowl can be played on WIBC. The weekend before the regular season opened, WIBC had those very games on, eventhough the games were broadcast on WFBQ.

The only thing that would make me happier would be if the Pacer games got to move to the FM side of the dial, because 1070am isn't worth a flying f**k after they power down in the evening. Heck, I live in town and I have a hard time getting 1070 in without having country music creep in over the signal. Too bad the Pacers will not recieve the same treatment as their Colts brethern.

They need to air the Pacers/Nets game where Reggie hits the 40ft turn-around buzzer beater, "YES! YES! YES! YES!"

Gnome -

I live on the SW side of Indy somewhat near the airport, and know what
you mean about WIBC's weak signal to this area.

It can though be easily overcome with a radio specifically designed for
good AM reception such as the one found here:

http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/spcialty/0547.html

The key is finding an AM radio that has a nice long ferrite-rod antenna like
this one has. This antenna is directional, and you can situate the radio to
null-out interfering stations, and give good reception of the desired station.

I had the same problem picking up WIBC using some cheap-azz clock
radio, until replacing it with a good radio similar to the one mentioned
above. It brings in WIBC beautifully like it was right next door.

And it you are trying to listen to the game using your living-room stereo
and its AM reception isn't too hot, there are directional loop antennas
available that will greatly boost performance and null-out interferance.

A good antenna is key to good reception in an otherwise "dead spot",
and especially if your house is near high-tension power lines that may
cause additional signal loss.
