I always like catching big carp. You really feel like you have something on the line with those things. You have more pictures right here than I've caught total in my life though. Looks like fun.

Well the Meijer bucket just has my bait in it. I always make my carp bait up in a 5 gallon bucket.

As an avid catfisherman myself (especially in the Tennessee River), I gotta say those carp look ugly. J/K :D. Big Carp are fun to catch though, I have to admit, but I haven't been fishing for them in years. Have to break out the can of corn for that trip.

Nice mess of carp though. Did you clean the mud veins out and fry em up, or did you catch and release? Looked like a fairly clean pond/lake you caught them out of. Congrats man.

Thats got me wanting to head down to my fishing spot in Tennessee, and lay into a big blue again. One of these days, I'll beat my personal record of the 30# blue I caught 4 years ago on vacation. Have caught several 10-15 pounders. They are like minnows down there though. Ive seen guys pull out 50-60-70 pounders daily where I go. Of course out of that river, I never eat anything. Catch, take a pic, release and de-slime my hands. :D

Hey BB33.... carp fishing for me is all about catch and release. The Kroger grocery in my neighborhood always has a nice selection of fresh fish anyways... LOL.

Most of these fish were caught out of Lake Shafer in Monticello, In. This lake is formed by the Norway dam on the Tippicanoe River in northwestern Indiana. It's also a really good catfish lake. Lots of big flatheads, blues and channels in the 10 to 15lb range are caught regularly.

I would LOVE to fish the Tennessee River for carp. Maybe I could make a trip sometime and you could show me the good fishing spots....

Good for you on the fresh fish thing. My Dad (God rest his soul) tried to show me along time ago how to do get the mud vein out, and it wasn't worth the trouble. Heck, I haven't actually cleaned a fish in many many years - even a cat. Fishing is definitely just a sport to me anymore - catch and release no matter what kind of fish - well except for the occasional gar I get a hold of, then I "euthanize" him.

I wondered if that was Lake Schaffer in the pic with the bridge way in the back ground. I actually remember that bridge from when we took the kids to Indiana Beach 10 years ago or so. Cats are my favorite - any kind of cat, but the big ones are so much fun to catch.

I usually fish the White river here in Indiana down near Martinsville, but not so much anymore. I'd rather make the 7 hour trip to Chattanooga to my bro-in-law's. We take his boat upstream from the Chickamauga Dam, there are some great spots on the river there. I want to move there and buy me a boat just for that - hehe. We specialize in the cats, and some crappie trips every once in a while, but I bet there are some huge carp in that river. We hang into some nice largemouth sometimes too - 6-7-8 pounders.

indygeezer, I'm with ya on the crappie and the gills too.
