I thought he had a chance to be pretty good if given the time, and I think I started a thread over the summer about maybe the pacers should try to get him. But he's looked better than I even imagined lately.

He played 38 minutes shot 9-13 - 4 rebs, 6 assists, 1 turnover and 23 points. He'd look pretty good in a Pacers uniform.

here is the thread from over the summer. of course I won't try and retrieve the thread where I wanted Eric Muselman as Pacers coach a year ago - we'll just forget about that one.

Isn't his defense Diener-esque? I mean I'd be interested in him, but who would he be an upgrade for? Catch Travis on a good night and give him 38 minutes and I think he could give you that.

I agree with Mal. I think Diener could easily give us what Beno did. Diener has struggled, but I know from what I saw from him in the preseason the guy can play. He just hasn't gotten too many minutes, and hasn't had the greatest games when he has gotten them (except for in the game he scored 10). Diener will come around.

I agree.

I think that if we gave Diener the minutes that Beno has gotten that Travis would come through with good production.

beno and diener are equals on defense. beno is better at creating i think (at least in my limited viewing of the two). but i'm still comfortable with travis where he is.

If you really want to put your head through that brick wall, how about this?

Beno is on a one year contract, making roughly HALF of what Diener is making.

Eh, I still say Diener'd put up similar stats with so many minutes.

Beno likes to drink and he's lazy and he didn't want to listen to Coach Pop... just wait until the middle of the season. His first bad game then he will fall apart and be terrible.

Sorry but he had too many chances in SA and he couldn't over come the challenges Coach Pop would give him.

I like Francisco Garcia better than Beno

I like Marquis as our backup point guard anyways. I'm glad JOB has been doing that for the last 4-5 games. Diener is ok in some situations, but Marquis is a great creator.

There is alot of Diener love on this thread. I've been turning sour on him with his poor shooting. Hopefully there is somethin that you guys see that I don't. But right now, I can't stand to watch what he does to our team when he is on the court.

Is he more annoying than Al Harrington though?

No, not even close. I just put him on my sig because at the moment he was blowing the game for us. I love Diener's attitude, but his game... not so much.

Lets not forget that Diener only had 45 (or so) games of NBA experience before this season. Lets be a little more patient with him. I'm sure he'll get better.

He still has upside, which Saras lacked.

But I'd still rather see Owens.
