When this team gets some offense under its belt, it runs away with itself. The same thing happened under the Larry Brown teams to a certain extent - the lead gets big and everyone wants to hit that big dagger to put the nails in the coffin.

Some people call it a heat check - when you're hitting on all cylinders you try an outraheous shot or a quick LOOOONG three to see if you're really in the zone you think you're in.

Nothing wrong with that as long as you don't do it too many times in a row, because -

quick outside miss leads to quick running score by other team which hypes speed of game and leads probably to another quick outside miss which leads ...

and so on.

As I often say, with this team, I count 20 points as a tie.

Only one thing makes the difference between this team and some of the previous ones - Rick Carlisle knows exactly how to call a timeout and stop that garbage. So, we drop 6 or 8 at a time instead of losing the whole lead.

Gotta love it. While frustrating to watch a lead shrink, it's a lot better than watching the other team's lead grow!
