View Full Version : The BATTLE for #1

This is the first in what may or may not be a many-part series of threads. You must choose the Pacer (former or present) most worthy of the jersey # in the subject heading. This will of course be between those who have worn or are currently wearing a specific number.

The idea is to pick who you consider to be the best player AKA if they were all in their prime arguing over who gets this # (assume they all want it), you get to come in and so "look, ________ is clearly the best player, and he deserves to wear the # he wants above the rest of you". Or it can be a petty popularity contest. Your choice.

Some of these (including this one) should be easy, but I suspect others not so much.

I decided to just start at the "bottom" and work my way up. I'll probably do a few of these per day because I don't feel like spending months on this. :)

Yes, at one point Roger wore #1 (just don't ask me win; I just found it in a media guide).

It's obviously got to be Jack.

This is a no-brainer for the great Freddie Lewis.

Both of you neglect the guy who's name IS IN THE RAFTERS? For shame.

But I did say your reasons for choosing are your own... even if they're wrong. :-p

Roger is #35. Not gonna vote for him here.

Well, at least he'll get 1 vote...if that's any concession to ya.

I'll vote for him both times.

Yep, I voted for Freddie as well. When I saw Rajah's name, I was like "what the hell?"

I went with Brown, with Lewis a close second.

I'll vote lewis.

How many threads until I get to vote for Pollard?

Roger, enough said.

Well I voted Roger, but if it means that Freddie doesn't get a number then I'd change my vote to him since Brown still has 35 coming up.

Presumably, it's pretty obvious who I voted for...

ChicagoJ

Sorry, but this is a trav-sham-mockery.

Presumably, if Roger wins this one, then he won't be included on the ballot for #35, since there is no point in voting him twice, right?

Who will the remaining choices be for #35? #35 has been retired for a long, long time. And Freddie Lewis, one of the 12-15 best Pacers ever, gets passed over? (Or did Lewis also wear another number? I seem to remember a #20 but I could be confusing that with somebody else.)

Hicks

No, he will be on both. For example, Ron Artest will be on 15 and 23 (I'm not wasting time with #s only one person wore).

Roger, enough said.

CJack, explain the picture with the Dutchman?
Where and how?

McCloud, people often confuse them. Dude was the Pacers answer to Magic after all.

Rajah was #35

That's the one hanging in the rafters, nothing else, this is Lewis 110%

OK - I'm confused about the premise here. Are we voting on real numbers of like a rating? If it's real numbers then I would vote for Freddie and Roger would definitely be #35.

If the players listed were arguing over who gets #1, I would have Rajah
and Freddie do a coin toss over it.

But, I chose to cast my vote for Bo Lamar for obvious reasons.

:D

Wasn't Freddie #14?

Yes Freddie Lewis was also #14.

Well if it makes you feel better, a script on that page locked up my IE.

He's gonna have some competition at #14:

Jerry Sichting
Ricky Sobers
Randy Wittman
Sam Perkins
Timmy Hardaway :arrgh:
