I just received this email from Pacers Insider and opened it quickly, only to be disappointed.

Pacers.com - Breaking news:

MyName,

For just the second time in eight years, the Pacers open the regular season in Conseco Fieldhouse, Wednesday, Oct. 31 (Halloween Night), against Washington as the 2007-08 NBA schedule was announced today.

The Pacers find another rarity in their schedule as their second game will also be at home, Friday, Nov. 2, against Miami. This is the first time since 1991-92 the Pacers have opened with two home games.

Season tickets are available now online through Pacers.com or by calling (317) 917-2500.

That wasn't very nice!!:censored:

Okay, two home games to start the '07-08 season. What's so misleading about that?

Yeah, I was like "holy crap! a trade!"

And then................

"oh, the schedule"

It isn't breaking news. We all knew the schedule came out today.

That's like saying "Breaking News!!!!!......................................... ....

It's Christmas."

Duh, we knew that already. Call us when you know what the presents are.

In fairness to the Pacers...I believe I the one I got announcing the PaceMates was also Breaking News. I think it's just the template subject.

Or maybe the breaking news was the Jackie Robinson-like moment for transexuals everywhere when that Rick James lookalike became the first one to ever become a professional cheerleader.

But seriously, Jay's right, this is the standard mailer. It always comes across like "YOU AIN'T GONNA BELIEVE THIS S**!!!...this year Conseco has 4 sizes of soda to choose from". (cue Debbie Downer music)

Well, they send out e-mails like " Check out our new $299 season ticket package " or " Pacers announce 40th Anniversary Team " (http://us.f311.mail.yahoo.com/ym/ShowLetter?MsgId=5812_0_9965_1642_1390_91421_4702_ 4156_3852220368_oSObkYn4Ur5HQV30mWzmscOdSCCAdRe6l9 CvxhKy4Got_nC5fX3B3TIIKtLMz70SucAc5waWEwrYe4lIeW_0 Q_VgUF6Q53SaXoN_megqYUAp_PKsuLQgFr1miMijtalf60B74F CUMKNmJfxivx5q.ot_ek5eJPs-&sbox=&Idx=0&pos=0&Search=1&box=@S@Search&&) all the time. There's the newsletter, there's the odd news story, and there's breaking news.

Eh, mountain out of a molehill, I know. But it did kinda irritate me. I'm having a Debbie Downer day myself. I'm pretty sure a puppy hugging a rainbow would **** me off right about now. I even changed my nifty PD mood meter to reflect it.

Apparently the breaking news was the Pacers still have season tickets available. :happydanc

Either that or Halloween falls on October 31st this year ?

I love when the crack research dept. find gems like this.

Well it had to happen sometime, I guess...

Great then we only have 39 home games left with 41 road games still to go :-o

Maybe they have been following fox news to closely. Fox did a breaking news story when Paris Hilton got out of jail. I was dumbfounded, my first thought was is America really this dumb now.

Aceace - I felt the same way when I got back from Iraq - and still occasionally am dumbstruck/awestruck by just how bad it seems. Hence the love of basketball, cars, and anime.
