Arenas has already publicly said that he'll opt out after the coming season. He wants to stay, but figures his 65mil contract isn't enough. Washington's gonna be putting even more of their cap room into a guy who'd rather be on the cover of a video game than in the playoffs.

Hope he still doesn't have that "vendetta" against Portland, because their defense is gonna get a whole lot better.

Another star who will realize, too late, that his "business" is going to kill his contender aspirations (assume he ever had any).

I hate that this happened but he knows we will pay him. And we better.

hoopshype doesn't actually list him as having a player option so thats interesting. there would also be one more year left (@ ~$12mil) left on his current deal so i don't know what the big deal is exactly. its not like he's leaving 4 years he was already signed to.

Arenas is the new Steve Francis.

Arenas is the new Steve Francis.

What? Arenas has been vastly superior to Francis statistically throughout the duration of his career, and I don't think Arenas has really done much to be coined as a headcase.

My early prediction is that he'll go to the Bobcats. If they can keep Wallace this year and sign Arenas in the next offseason, that will be an interesting team.

Arenas is all about the money and video game coverboy status, and not at all about winning a ring. Give him his 25 points/6 assists on 41% shooting, and all is right in his world.

What a douche.

LOL Arenas really needs to look into thinking before speaking.

Have you guys not read the article?

He said he doesn't want to leave he justs wants to be paid more. Sure he's going about it the wrong way but he DOES deserve it.

Hey, he's the best player on your favorite team. I understand why you'd want to defend him.

But announcing publicly that you'll opt out over a year in advance is crazy.

I know he shouldn't have done it. But the bottom line is he doesn't want to leave he justs wants Grunfeld to run him his money.

Does he not deserve that?

Not if he goes about asking for it like this.

Has he ever cared about the scoreboard at the end of the game, or just his paycheck, which is influenced largely by the box score, it seems.

He would've fit in great with the Pacers of the past few seasons.

Ugh.

Arenas is the new Steve Francis.

Except for the fact that he isn't grossly overpaid and actually has an ounce of talent in his body...

Arenas is the new Steve Francis.

Maybe I read the wrong article, but I didn't see anything about Arenas coming out of the closet.

Arenas is currently better than Francis was at any point in his career.
