According to the Racine Journal Times.

Didn't see this posted anywhere else yet...

"Anyway, I'm hearing it's a cinch ex-MU coach Kevin O'Neill, who was fired several weeks ago as the Toronto Raptors' head coach, will join the Indiana Pacers and be an assistant coach for his good pal, Rick Carlisle."

This is AWESOME.
Kevin O'Neil is a class act - being from Toronto area I saw a lot of this guy and he is truly a great coach...not his fault that he has a bunch of whiny softees on his ex-team (God, I hate the Raptors).

I guess its a forgone conclusion Mike Brown is gone eh?

Kevins got some big shoes to fill as the defensive guru now. I think Mike was/is a big part of the team, and their defensive schemes. too bad he's gotta go. Cant we just make him co head coach?

Looking what he did in Toronto though early in the year, they were playing awesome D. holding opponents to like 70ppg.. of course they only would score 60 :p

Carlisle and O'Neill are really close friends, like brothers.

But I don't think this means Brown is gone. It might. Maybe Dan Burke is leaving or Ron Rothstein. O'Neill is a defensive specialist and that is what Brown has been in charge of this season, so maybe Brown is leaving

I can't say I am happy to hear that even though it's just speculation at this point , I would take Mike Brown anyday over Kevin O Neil

Obviously - but we aren't sure if this means losing Mike...

Carlisle, Brown, AND Kevin O'Neill on the same team. :o :o :D Hopefully Brown will stay but I seriously doubt it, and O'Neill is as good of replacement as you'll find.

He's welcomed in my book; however my only concern is he's a known shouter/screamer, and assuming Brown isn't as much, I'm a little concerned he'll turn off the players after a while. Hopefully I'm way off.

Yeah he definitely was like that as head coach for the Raps...but it seemed like he also gained the respect of his players through his intesne attitude. However, I don't know how the Pacers would react to it...but if he was just assistant coach maybe he would tune it down a little?

O'Neill was very well respected by the players Piston's in Detroit. His work ethic is second to none.

One other thing Mike Brown is not a pushover, he stays after the guys

That is one thing Raptors players constantly said.
Second to none though...maybe Lawrence Frank?

I do think Brown is gone but he certainly wont be fired or anything. I just think that there is no way he wont get a head coaching job. I cant imagine someone not at least offering him one. If they dont it would be stupid because he is clearly going to be a very good head coach.

Uh, I am not at all thrilled to hear that O'Neill is going to Indy. He's widely considered the architect of the defense in Detroit the last two seasons, and he'll have more to work with in Indy...

So, which side of the fence are you really on? ;)
