That thinks another trade must be waiting in the wings? I just feel like this deal puts us with some interesting decisions to make involving the future.

I was just about to post the same thing. The roster feels really unbalanced.

Gotta be quick, though. Inside of 24 hours. There's not enough time for the dust to clear before the ASB.

We now have JO, Foster, Diogu and Murphy at the 4 and 5. I think Murphy or Foster could be gone before the all-star break. I just really don't see who starts at the two right now unless we go with something like Tins, Granger, Dunleavy, JO, Foster.

Could we be acquiring bigs to make a move for Kidd?

CableKC

I understand taking on DunDun with Diogu as a condition......something that Mullin has been desperately trying to do for the last season.....but taking on Murphy makes ZERO sense.

Making no moves would leave us with ZERO Salary-Cap flexibility until the end of the decade....something that I thought that TPTB were hoping to do.

There is no way that any team is going to take Murphy's huge@ss long term contract. I hope I'm wrong....but I really think that this is a precursor move in moving JONeal ( while his trade value is at an all-time high ) before the Trade Deadline. I'm hoping that its going to be JONeal+Tinsley for Kidd+Nenad.

Yes, this popped into my mind just a second ago as well. Color me a happy camper if we get Maggz.

Tins
Maggz
Granger
JO
Murphy

I could roll with that.

We need to upgrade the backcourt - no doubt - but we've needed to do that for about 6 or 7 years

I don't disagree at all that another trade is looming. I just can't figure out which one. I would say Dunleavy to the Clips for some sort of deal involving Maggette, but didn't the Clips squash that whole rumor that daddy wanted son to play for him?

JayRedd

Yeah....I'm expecting another move here.

And there are actually a lot of things that could happen.

Dunleavy, Foster and Shawne to the Clips for Maggette and Cuttino?

Diogu, Foster and some other stuff to the Nets for JKidd or Carter?

JO for some Baby Bulls?

JO for some Celtics young'ns?

Something for Gasol?

Not sure how I'd feel about any of these, but it's interesting nonetheless.

The bottom line on salaries is this. Equating Murph and Dun to Jac and Al. We are looking at 1 more year and about 3 million more per year. So that isn't significant. The one extra year is the bad thing, but

Seems to be pretty clear that there has to be another trade coming. We just gave up 2 of our top 3 or 4 guards and got none back.(I'm not counting the throw in guy) We added 3 forwards to an already crowded front line.
Somethings got to give.

And it isn't JO for Grandpa Kidd. (yeh I know, he's damn good)

I really don't see what this gains us in any way AS IT STANDS.

I think that is quite the pipe dream but it's clear something else has to happen. I would be more happy to have kidd at this point than I would magette although kidd stays out of the injury situation more...kidd isn't getting any younger. I don't know what the heck is going to happen, if we have to deal with this lineup you can bank on lottery bound, just ask the warriors. I really want something to happen soon, you should go read some of the posts on ESPN message boards for the pacers, we are currently the laughing stock of the league, and rightfully so.

This is Mike Dunleavy Jr. we're talking about. You'd have to sweeten the pot quite a bit to get the Clips to the table.
That being said, if the Clips want to swap Magz for Dunleavy, I'm all for it :D

You play in the NBA to win championships, and while I like the trade, I don't see the Pacers going anywhere with the current team.

With the $4.1 million exception we got, a Murphy/Tinsley/TA for Kidd deal would work. Don't know if NJ would be interested, but that would be amazing.

I think Foster/Tinsley/Harrison/TA and filler would also work, and NJ would probably bite on that one.

As far as I can tell, the Pacers need one PG and one SG. Ideally one of them would be an established, quality player (read: an upgrade over what we have now) and the other would be a young player who is currently not getting the PT he deserves because of his team's roster makeup. I figure we'll get one in the next few weeks, and the other either this offseason or next year.

So who is on the wish list?

So far I've heard Magette and Kidd. I'll add (as usual) Gerald Green.

I remember Larry Bird having good things to say about Dunleavy, Jr as well as Ike Diogu in the past. I also remember him having good things to say about Gerald Green on several occasions, so there's no secret he likes him, and you sort of get the feeling that Bird is building his roster with his players now.

I'm treating todays trade as an unfinished product. I won't feel one way or another until we make the accompanying deal. If we could somehow get back into the draft as well as get a capable 1/2 then I'll give it up to Bird and Walsh.

I can't find the link to the article...but I think that this is the main reason why DunDun to the Clips won't happen. I would find it difficult for players to play with a player ( chemistrywise ) if he was the son of the coach. Its difficult to build a level of trust with a player that is also the son of the coach.

Besides...if the Clips really wanted DunDun....then they could have made that trade a long time ago.
