The "Not So Written in Stone and Subject to Change" rules of Pacers Digest:

Most of these things should be common sense and regard common decency. Many of you will not need to read this as we mostly have a fine, courteous (and knowledgeable) community here at PD. As the playoffs Heat up (har har) we're expecting more people to swing by and they may not be aware of how we like things around here. One might even argue that some of our regulars need a gentle reminder to keep it civil. Well, here it is.

1. Don't be a jerk.

This is the most important one. Flaming, belittling, name calling, or otherwise mocking or deprecating other posters is not acceptable. We will not always agree with each other, but show some respect. Joking around is fine, but it helps if you make it known you're fooling around. Nobody can read your mind here.

2. Absolutely Nothing Racist

If you make a statement that either is blantantly racist, or simply implies racism and any of the 4 admins take it to be racist, we will not tolerate it and we will deal with it as best we see fit, no questions asked.

3. No Spamming.

Self explanatory. Spamming to boost your post count falls under this too. You can always start a thread in the Pub called "Increase your post count here" or something. Or you could just ask an Administrator nicely and maybe it will be set to two hundred thousand billion. I'm of the opinion that it's not how many posts you have, but what you say with them that really matters.

4. No Advertising.

This is flexible really. Suppose you're a member who currently has a memorabilla auction on Ebay; Great! Post it! Suppose you're a member who has a DVD store in Carmel. Great, post about it in the pub! If you're a member who is also a member of another board that you think others would enjoy, great! See, the important word here is "member". If you're here solely to advertise or solicit then you're in the wrong place and won't be here long.

5. No Pornography.

We try to keep it family friendly here. There's an fairly obvious line between something risque and something pornographic. If you're starting a thread where content may not be safe for those of us at work, then a NSFW (Not Safe For Work) in the title would be appreciated as well (the alleged bodybuilder forum story comes to mind). This is a non-negotiable rule.

6. Try to start topics in the appropriate forums.

Sometimes threads are moved from the Pacers board to the Pub. Sometimes from the Pub to the Pacers. People have generally been good with this (to a fault perhaps). Not all OT posts need to be in the Pub. Politics definitely stays in the Politics forum though.

7. Keep the avatars and signatures reasonably sized.

There is an option to disable avatars and sigs now but that doesn't mean that those of us who would prefer to see them want to wade through miles of crap in your sig everytime you post or have your avatar breaking the page so it scrolls. If it's too large, somebody will say something. Please listen.

On topic, if you find someone else's avatar or sig that is not safe for work, PM an Administrator. Chances are it hasn't been seen yet. I have and will continue to ask someone nicely to change it and explain why. If it's something completely over the line then you may find it changed for you. That's the breaks I guess. Just use some common sense.

8. No Trolling

Does anything really need to be said about this? We like fans of other teams here and encourage them to stick around. If you want to talk some basketball then you came to the right place. If you came to troll then you'll find yourself banned after a few opportunities to, ya know, post something worth reading.

9. Don't be a jerk.

We covered this one already? Okay, it's the main one so keep it in mind.

Feel free to PM an Admin if you have concerns or complaints about people, places, things, objects, whatever. I think we're generally approachable and feedback is appreciated even if it's not always positive.

Add questions, comments, concerns, things you'd like to see that weren't covered by posting on the feedback board.

Thanks for your time and please don't run around the pool; those tiles can get mighty slippery.
