The line looks right to me... With the rust, I see this game not being in question...but I dont see Miami getting blown out of the building.

Pacers by 9. I'd take the bet, if I had money :smartass:

er, y'all know that laker+4 means the spurs were favored by 4 points. and heat +11 means we are a MASSIVE favorite. damn amateur gamblers... ;)

I hope they knew that. In any case, I'd still take that bet. I don't think the Pacers will win by more than 11. I anticipate a rather close game for Game 1.

Sure, that just means that Vegas thinks the Heat's point total + 11 points will be the same as our point total. So if you bet on us we need to win by 12 points or more for you to win the bet. Us winning by 10 would be a loser. So yeah, I would definitely pick the heat to lose by less then 11 points tomorrow. I'm guessing we win by 8.

Yeah, I know point spreads... Too bad the odds makers knew the spreads better then I did this year. Did a lot better betting NFL then the NBA this year. :(

It is hard to make much money off gambling that way. It is best to stick with skilled games like No Limit Hold Em Poker ;)

Said the spider to the fly???? Um, and I bet I stand a better chance of winning if I let you deal right?

<edit> I prolly shoulda bought a Powerball tix tonight, I went to a club meeting and won the 50/50 drawing (my half = $51.50) But by the time I got out thy had quit selling the PB tix.

Not to bore you guys with the details but the line isn't what Vegas thinks the Pacers are going to win by. The line is in place to get equal betting on both sides. The casinos don't gamble; they strive to get equal money on both teams and they clean up with the juice. By the way, the Pacers were giving 11-13 points per game against the Celts and covered all of the games.

Just to simplify it, heres what they strive for: I'll use $1,000 as an example but the $$ is much higher.

$1,000 bet on Pacers.
$1,000 bet on Heat.

The winning bettors would get paid $1,000 but the losing bettors have to pay the casino $1,100 because of the juice because to win $100 you have to bet $110 so the casino makes 10% without any risk. The figure is way higher then $1,000 action but you get the idea as long as they have equal $$ on both teams then they win 10% without any risk. Thats why the line moves because if they get heavy action on the Pacers then they'll move it up a little to get more action on the Heat but they are so good at it that the line rarely ever moves they get pretty much equal money on both sides as soon as the line comes out because if it moved too much they could have to pay both sides if the score fell in the middle.

Hmm well maybe at my home games with fake chips... but I never gamble real money except in tourneys.

Betting the over/under on the NBA is a better way to make money than the point spreads. Pick and choose your games carefully (frex. Warriors/Wizards in December is going to be a under bet) and you can do it.

Pacers will cover the the line. They are ready and focused and Miami
is tired and will relax a little. Pacers win by 20. :)
