Apparently he hurt his back picking up luggage this morning. He's was late coming out to warmups and is moving "gingerly" according to Kevin Lee......

Too bad that Sarunas may not play......I think he would have done well against the Sixers rather sucky defense.

That just means that Tinsley, Marquis and RedBull play more!!!

Jermaine is nailing his shots pretty well. When he is hitting that midrange jumper, pretty hard to stop him. I'd like to see him work the post too though.

Our defense still kind of sucks though. Too many layups/dunks already.

Damn Marquis, that was a brick. 1 of 2, okay.

Philly has been playing some zone defense since obviously the Pacers haven't been able to hit the broadside of Rosie O'Donnell's rear end so far this year.

Sure let's leave Harrington fumbling the ball around at the top of the key to end the quarter. Not a good finish Pacers.

There was one REALLY nice offensive sequence earlier where Tinsley noticed Harrington had a possible opening inside so he dished the ball to Granger on the wing and Danny hit Al with a quick pass for a layup. That is the kind of offensive chemistry the P's need to build.

Not the way it sounds. I think I heard Mark and Slick talking about the 76ers playing zone, so that might have something to do with it. If that's the case, it's a good opportunity for 'Quis and Jack to get to the hoop by slashing.

JayRedd
11-07-2006, 09:16 PM
I don't wanna say that's as good as we can play, but that was one hell of a quarter.

JO is as active as I've seen him in a long time on defense. Even when he wasn't blocking shots he was altering them. He was also a good "point" man at the free throw line and didn't hold the ball much at all. That pass from the top of the key to him at the elbow to Al for the one-step dunk was just great movement and the ball never touched the floor.

Jack quietly had a great half. Played very good defense in chasing Korver and in rotating. And he took open shots within the offense and otherwise kept the offense flowing by making good rotation passes, making good cuts and even vocally telling the younger perimeter players where to pass the ball.

Redbull is just great for this team. His quickness bringing the ball up the court in a pleasure. His penetrate and pitch is exactly what we need to keep the ball moving around.

Rawle played completely within the offense and looked like he belonged on the court. What a steal. Flight who?

Aside from one bad TO, Tinsley played very well.

Quis and Foster were both very active as well. Quis was slashing and Foster was all around the hoop for boards. Also made CWebb look like the creaky-kneed old man river that he is everything Jeff checked him.

Al and Danny were both good as well.

Basically everyone played in unison and the ball just went where it should and never where anyone tried to make it go.

Great Quarter!!!

Now that there's a break in the action, let me clarify. Of course, when I typed this originally, Daniels dropped a three as I pushed submit. After all the hoopla this summer, I expected Marquis to come out and play the way Rawle did in the first half. Rawle clearly left his mark. While Daniels contributed, he didn't come out swingin' like Marshall. If Marshall keeps playing like this Daniels may become more aquainted with Harrison than he'd like.

Jack is flying high right now...Ballin'!!!

If he can play within himself like this he is a great asset out there. He's just playing with a calm, steady demeanor that is very refreshing. And whether it's been chasing Korver around or sticking with AI on the dribble, he's been amazing on D.

Agreed. Jack has been extremely solid mentally. I don't know if it's because he knows Carlisle can sit him, or if the new rule changes are helping him, or if he really did just get everything worked out in his head. But I like THIS Jack, and hope he sticks around.

JO has been discombulatingly devastating.

I'll give a big cookie to whoever tells me who originally said the end of that great phrase.

What no takers? Come on who first said discombulatingly devastating.

Agreed. Jack has been extremely solid mentally. I don't know if it's because he knows Carlisle can sit him, or if the new rule changes are helping him, or if he really did just get everything worked out in his head. But I like THIS Jack, and hope he sticks around.

Ditto. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Sounds like the work of Clyde Frazier....no rhyme though.

As for Rawle's nickname, I'm again advocating The Steal....First play ever as a Pacer was "Cookies" pick and we got him as a throw in to an AJ for DA deal.

Actually, that sounds good too: The Throw In

At least you had the guts to guess. The correct answer is Mike Tyson.

Jack with another nice pass and playing great D.

We have 16 turnovers but that's kind of misleading because of all of the offensive fouls being called.

Ok, so should we continue to give Rawle some of Quis's minutes if he continues to play like this? Cause he has outplayed Quis by far from anything I have seen Quis do in a Pacers uni.

His D has been solid, as well.

And he jumps pretty high, straight up. First he caught the crazy pass, then he got that rebound.

We have 16 turnovers but that's kind of misleading because of all of the offensive fouls being called.

There was also one where Al got a D board falling out of bounds and threw it away that they counted as a TO, and one where JO did the same thing on an offensive board. Those aren't "real" TOs, or not ones you worry about anyway. Another was a good pass from Tins to a cutting Rawle that just was just mishandled. That was somewhat fluky too.

Jack just also controlled himself really well after getting a foul called on him. At first he kinda yelled "WHHATT?" and put his hands up, then instantly caught himself and just turned away and started clapping, realizing that he needed to just let it go.

Not to be a negative Nancy but Sixers 31, Pacers 17. The bench didn't exactly light it up in the 4th. I mean, they let Willie Green go 6-8 and McFarlin (whom I've never heard of) score six. Four of Fifteen shooting......ah **** it, WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing.

Another thing I was thinking is that we need to keep in mind that we can't play DA a whole lot, probably not even every game unless we have to. So I would think that would open up time for Rawle, sliding Marquis over to the 1 some.

Great game last night! Everyone playe so well.

JO really hit the boards though. He's such a beast. Danny had a really good 3rd quarter and I was really happy to see Rawle out there getting in his shots.

We started out shooting from downtown really well, but the percentage started to even out later in the game. The FT shooting was good. 16 of 20. The only thing that turned out bad was the turnovers. Twenty-two is a bit too much for me.

Great win.
