I have to walk 20 minutes off-campus to see the game on my buddies' League Pass account (HIGH-DEF TELEVISION!)...I'm more than happy to make the trip, but I really hope that we don't get blown out because I'm the only Pacer fan in attendance and Knicks fans tend to brag, if only because their team never wins! The gross generalizations end here. Go Pacers! I expect big games from Fred Jon...err, Danny Granger and Al Harrington...I shouldn't say expect; I actually meant "pray for"...This is my first time seeing them live this year and my opinions about the game might actually count tonight - that's not to say that you guys will read them, but, a man can be optimistic right?

I gave up on the game live and finally bought Audio League Pass from NBA.com. I listened to the first game from WORX from game live but it was silent for game 2. Good thing about the audio pass is that it does archive the game until the next one is played.

That is the mystery of Stephen Jackson....

Probably the thing that ticks me off the most about his misses tonight is the fact that his misses have led to New York fast breaks and Pacers fouls.

There is nothing that makes me as mad as what the Pacers did in the last 5 minutes of that half. ****ing idiots, you play well and then just throw it away in the last few minutes, you gave a Knicks team that was playing horrible a lot of life.

Blowing the lead right before halftime is my biggest pet peeve.,

Pacers should have about a 20 point lead, the Knicks were beyond bad in the first half.

Rick please tell Jax and Al that you DON'T HAVE TO SHOOT EVERYTIME YOU'RE OPEN.

I know Al has 16 points but he's shot 16 times and I don'tt even want to mention Jax

I'm not overly concerned about Jack's shooting tonight. We all should know by now that he is streaky. No need to freak out and act like he's supposed to shoot 50% every damn game.

I am very concerned with the 0 free throw attempts. That just shows complete laziness by our entire team on the offensive end.

...uh, yes. I thought that was what a starting SG did. I guess he is shooting.

Seriously, he is ridiculously streaky. When he's good, he's not too bad. When he's bad, he's horrible.

Just think about the fact that, as the starting SG, he will be the man shooting a significant % of the time from the perimeter. It is just not a comforting thought.

Once again people. A player of Jacks quality is never able to determine the fate of another team, or our team by themselves.

If your shooting guard shoots a lot and cannot even hit the rim at times, and is as streaky as Jack on a game to game basis, you cannot expect to be much better than a .500 team. When he's off, it's like having 10 or more turnovers. THAT is enough to determine the fate of your team.

The problem is, he NEVER shoots 50%. Jacks failure to hit a single shot hurts just as much as 0 free throws do.

Jack this year:

11/1: 4-15

11/4: 0-8 (half-time)

This is nothing new with Jack.

And I see plenty of complaining about JO's (lack of) rebounding.

Thing is, at least JO gives us something else if he's not rebounding well. If Jack goes into "Jack Mode" and misses everyting, he doesn't provide anything else but low percentage shooting. And I have been complimentary of Jack the first couple games and throughout the preseason, FYI.

Preseason, pwned.

But seriously, you sound like even 0.5 shooting was good. Far away! I'm tellin ya! It would probably be good to just purely shoot at this percentage fro the mid-range, 3 point line; but as SG, you are supposed to have some skills to drive to the basket, right? That usually brings more success. So, all in all, it's not like "he's not supposed to shoot 50% every damn game.", but likely that "he is supposed to shoot not less than 50% every damn game". Or around that.

Thing is, at least JO gives us something else if he's not rebounding well. If Jack goes into "Jack Mode" and misses everyting, he doesn't provide anything else but low percentage shooting. And I have been complimentary of Jack the first couple games and throughout the preseason, FYI.

What the hell does JO give us, A pathetic percentage for a Center or a Power Forward, bad leadership. Um thats about it. Well he gives us other things, but so rarely, even though he rebounds poorly alot????

^ Just exaggerating kinda like you towards Jack, I hope. If you aren't kidding, then I am sorry.

Jack gives us defense. To say he doesn't provide anything besides occasionally hitting shots, is just plain ignorant.

LOL we usually blow leads in the 4th quarter of games. Must be starting early this year.

Why JO doesnt get the ball at every oppurtunity on offense is beyond me because noone can guard him he will either get the bucket or free throws. On the other hand he needs to start rebounding its appaling that he only has 5 in this game and is averaging 5 in the first 2.

Young
11-04-2006, 10:40 PM
This is the first game i've had the chance to really watch.

I LOVE the offense. I just love it. I would get pissed last year, it would be one pass and a 3 or throw down to JO and watch him shoot a fadeaway. I hated that ****. This year though there is movement, passing, cutting, great team play.

Another thing that made me upset last year was that, atleast it seemed like it to me anyways, the team didn't attack the zone correctly. I think it was the first time the Knicks went zone we got the ball to Al right in the middle by the foul line and he had a good shot but just missed. That's right where you want to attack a zone though, in the middle. The other times I saw the Knicks go zone it seemed like we didn't settle for the 3 like last year.

Tinsley looks good running the offense. I was very concerned about Tinsley/Saras being our two main point guards in an up tempo setting (neither athletic/good defenders) but atleast Tinsley looks good. I haven't seen Saras play much tonight. But when i've seen Tinsley I like what I see. Especially offenseively but even on defense he got some deflections and did well, IMO. Oh and another thing is it just me or is Tinsley looking like he is in good shape?

I'm happy Al is having a good game. It will take some time to adjust for him and the rest of the guys but hopefully this can get Al going in the right direction.

Also, I was very pleased to see Danny start and not Jeff. I know we have gotten beat on the boards but we have guys who can rebound on that frontline starting, Danny, Al, and Jermaine can all rebound. I didn't want to see a change made for that reason the third game into the season. I love Jeff's game and it's nothing against him, I just didn't want to hit the panic button or anything like that.

Playing a team like the Knicks with PGs like Marbury and Francis that doesn't really pressure the ball....Sarunas will do good.

When we play a team that has Guards that can pressure Sarunas....its imperative that his minutes are minimized...or he gets rid of the ball quickly.

Sarunas looked great tonight giving a pump-fake, then stepping in a couple feet and pulling up. It's not the same penetration guys like Jack can get, but it's the highest percentage shot he takes, other than free throws. He's absolute money on those shots, and he can get it any time.

I will however agree that we don't have enough penetration to the hoop, because there is no good reason to get your first free throw of the game with 6:30 left in the THIRD QUARTER! That's ridiculous.

Good win tonight this is how we want to play every night IMO. Here comes my recap. No bad tonight, just ok, good, and great. Only thing to really complain about was the free throw disparity. I highly doubt we went an entire half without drawing a shooting foul, but I digress.

THE OK:

Granger is again not playing how we need him to just yet, but that being said I am glad Rick is not tinkering with the lineup let them play and work through their problems. It will come to Danny eventually just like last year though he will need some time to adjust to being a starter.

Jack had his worst game of the season tonight, but he still avoided the yacking with the refs and he drew a few charges so as long as the hustle is there I am a happy camper.

Quis had his worst game tonight too, just never really looked in the flow on either end, but thats ok because he is new and you would expect him to still be on a bit of a learning curve.

Foster has been less than impressive to me the past two games, but I still don't think he is hurting us and I don't expect him to. That being said I can't say he is helping us either just yet.

Harrison was blah to meh yet again. Nothing to really get excited about.

THE GOOD:

JO belongs here cause I said I was going to be less and less forgiving to his problems on the boards. His offense is still very efficient and his shot blocking and defense the past two games has been nothing short of spectacular, BUT he has to start crashing the board he has too.

THE GREAT:

Tins, Runi, and DA were AWESOME tonight. And we thought our PG rotation was going to be a weak spot, silly us. Plus we have our supposed defensive stopper in Greene coming back in a week or two. Lets start with Tins what a game from him tonight ran the offense to an absolute T, no problems at all. 14 assists and only 2 turnovers plus he was extremely efficient in his scoring. I was thrilled with him and this is why I will maintain that he is a top 5 PG when healthy. DA was basically DA tonight just great, his shooting has been spectacular for us. Not to mention how good he is on the pressure D front. Runi was very good in the 4th mediocre up until that point but really got in a groove. He is absolutely unstoppable when he can go to his right and get that midrange J in the lane.

Our chemistry tonight was just plain awesome Kellog and Denari touched on it and anyone that watched the game can attest to the fact that our bench was up and cheering the whole 4th quarter. That made me so happy I can't even explain. I haven't seen a bench that happy since the late 90's teams. Even the 60 win team never looked that happy together. Oh BTW I think its safe to say that AJ was a problem child. We committed highway robbery in that trade with Dallas one of the best moves Bird and Walsh have collaborated. Fantastic typical Walsh move, doesn't look like much at first, but has a huge impact on the team.

Well, I think that just about covers it, oh wait, am I forgetting someone? Oh yeah thats right Al had a pretty nice little game, that is if a pretty nice little game is dominating offensively from tip to finish. What a game from him. Fantastic effort and he scored from inside and out. Tins got him involved early in both halves and Al took it from there. Really happy to see him get off the snide.

Great win tonight. I'm happy, now lets go get the first W at home and beat the snot out of Philly.

GO PACERS!!!

Jack can get to the paint... he's just in love with his shot.

Marquis and Tinsley can break down the D as well. And Rawle Marshall looked good in preseason.

It's not a lack of talent, it's a lack of desire.

Jack has never been a consistent penetrator in my book. Marquis is more of a slasher, I'd say, and he seemed to have trouble getting to the hoop in Dallas because defenders don't respect his jumper enough and sag back a step making it tough for him to get by people

Tins is effective, but he's not the greatest finisher in the world given his size/strength, leaping ability. I don't watch the preseason, so I have no opinion on Rawle.

I'm just saying, when Jack is your best option to break down a defense and there's not a single guy on the team that you have any confidence to give the ball to and run a 1-4 set, your offense is missing something.

Crazy as it may sound to some, Runi is our best option for breaking down a defense and making something happen.

I don't know what happened to Jermaine's Rebounding averages but jjjeeezz sure his blocks have gone up but what happened to the 10 part of the 20/10 I'm not tooooooo concerned about the fouls I think the refs were reallllly letting alot go and they were trying to make up for it at the very end. All criticisms aside that was fun as hell to watch, and I love our bench standing and supporting their teamates in the 4th quarter that is awesome!! Tinsley carved up that defense tonight, I lost count how many times we burned them I was laughing too hard for a few of them. I really hope we can have more games like this rebounding MUST improve though.

If we run the backcourt like this against the Sixers....I'm pretty confident that they will do good.

I really think that the lack of defense at the PG spot from the Knicks really contributed to how well Tinsley, Sarunas and Darrell did.

We won't do as well when we play against a more defensive minded team like the Bulls.
