Uhh, not me, can you imagine Felton trying to guard bigger twos this season? Its gonna get ugly for them. Like for example Felton is 6 feet tops Jack is 6'8" if we are smart Jack is gonna get his chance to kick Felton's rear all over the paint.

You didn't like Danny Al-Jermaine?

11-01-2006, 06:25 PM
Sucks to be Danny tonight, he's going to have G-Dub draped all over him.
With JONeal, Harrington and SJax on the floor with him......he'll be the 4th scoring option on the floor...and much like I think the rest of the season will be....Granger won't be getting as many touches as we all hope.

If Wallace is left to guard the 4th option on the floor....I won't mind. Besides...cuz he is one of the best 2/3 defenders....I think that Wallace will end up gaurding the SG/SF/Undersized PF that scores the most.....either SJax or Harrington.

I am hoping for 4 things tonight:

1 ) Tinsley actually plays
2 ) Sarunas plays about 18 minutes
3 ) Carlisle limits Sarunas' minutes if he is getting abused on either end by Felton or Knight
4 ) Both Tinsley and Sarunas plays some acceptable defense on Felton

Glad that the season is finally here. I think we should take this one and get off to a good start this year.

CableKC
11-01-2006, 06:32 PM
Exactly, lol. I was just trying to make myself think that Jack won't have to deal with him.
If Wallace is abusing SJax on the offensive end....and forcing him to take bad shots.....then I hope that he recognizes this and passes the ball out to Granger ( or whoever is open ) instead of doing what he has relied on in the past....shoot himself out of slumps.

Hopefully whoever May is gaurding ( Harrington or JONeal ) can take advantage of the situation and put the basket in the hoop. Otherwise....I just hope that JONeal, Harrington and SJax can simply pass the ball to Granger if he is left open once in a while.

It's here, folks. Enjoy it.

Most important thing when you play the Bobcats is to have your PGs control the ball. Felton and Knight are good defensive players who get alot of steals. If we limit turnovers, we will win.

I really have no idea what to expect from this team..but at the same time, I have high expectations. Usually not a good combination.

Man....we're screwed then....with both Tinsley and Sarunas running the point...maybe we should have Granger bring the ball up and run the point as a Point-Forward.

Up tempo doesn't always mean very quick shots or going one-on-one instantly.

Pacers down 4-11. Brevin shooting FT's after the timeout.

11-01-2006, 08:51 PM
And to follow that, why the hell did Foster just shoot that?!

Naptown_Seth
11-01-2006, 08:51 PM
After the first a few thoughts...

Jack looks very strong. He missed a couple shots you'd like to see him hit, but he is playing the new style better than anyone. Good passes, strong help defense, even an Isiah style spin in the lane into a dish.

JO - not so much. He's struggling.

Sarunas and Harrison should NEVER EVER be allowed to play without the other one on the court. Nothing between them has changed. They have, by far, the best 2 man chemistry on the team. They make each other look 5 times better than they do alone, which was often true last year as well.

Make as shot maybe.

I knew Morrison was going to hit that buzzer shot, you could just feel it coming. Good for him, as long as Indy wins that is. :)

We have only played One Quarter in the Regular Season opener and he has only played 10 minutes....so far he has taken 4 shots and dished the ball 3 times.....let's see how he does for the rest of the season.

Naptown_Seth

I don't like it when Sarunas plays the two.
But that's not what they do. He just plays the OTHER PG out there with no true SG. Last year early then ran some SG sets for him, but since then it's been mostly guard-off guard that lets them quickly switch which side of the court/play is the strong side.

The pass by SarJas over to Daniels was a perfect example of what you get from the double PG look.

BTW, SarJas is playing pretty well in other areas tonight, not just passing. He's answering the critics (like me) and even his own pre-season evaluation.

God - Tinsley and JO's lines are awful.

Kegboy
11-01-2006, 09:29 PM
I tell you what, Cabbage may have turned a very important corner tonight.

With 7:30 left in the 2nd, Tinsley passed him the ball at the elbow, and during his shooting motion, he saw Daniels at the basket and passed it for an open layup. The next play, Tinsley passes to him on the right side, he takes the ball down under the basket and back out and passes for another shot.

Those are the first times I've ever seen him create from the 2 position. He always would get the ball and shoot, and it drove me crazy, because in Rick's system he was usually in good position to create, either off the dribble or straight up, due to teams having to respect his shot.

Plus, him creating opens up his own shot. After the two shots above, he got the ball again at the elbow, and his man wasn't as quick to get up on him, so he got a good look at a 3 that he hit.

This is what I've been harping about for a year now. Don't get caught up in the position and play the game. Now, granted, he's going to have better luck against a small backcourt like Charlotte's, but still, we did run a couple sets with him and Daniels with Quis up top. It's the same principle, and it will work against more traditional lineups too.

Now, if he wouldn't be so quick to ball-watch and play his man, I'd really be happy.

Those are the first times I've ever seen him create from the 2 position.
I keep saying that he isn't playing the 2. He's not, its not close, that's not how they run the sets when he and Tins are in.

It's clearly a double PG high set with 2 wings and a guy in the middle that let's them swap 3 man sets to either side with simple ball rotation. And they did do this with Tins and SarJas last year too, after the SarJas SG thing was a flop.

But SarJas is NOT running the same plays that Jack is asked to run (or Marshall), and he's not just hanging out waiting for a 3 shot. When Tins sends the ball to SarJas side the Pacers are setting up the exact same play on SarJas side that they just tried on Tinsley's side, with SarJas in the PG role.
