Rodney Carney, F to GF

Rodney is listed at SF but he is a backup both for Iguodala at SF but also for the Kover/Green committee at SG. In fact, Philly has used the combination of Iggy and Carney on many occasions, since he is a slighly leaner and possibly even more athletic version of Iguodala.

There are lots of articles discussing him at shooting guard:

Carney is considered a swingman who can play either shooting guard or small forward. He'll find more opportunity in the backcourt in Philly, because budding star Andre Iguodala has a lock on the starting small forward spot. The shooting guard position was unsettled, with John Salmons and Kyle Korver combining to start most of the season.

Carney will play both shooting guard and small forward for the Sixers, which sets him up to compete for minutes with Iguodala, Kyle Korver, Willie Green, and fellow draft pick Bobby Jones.

Front Office Opinion*: "Carney is a very athletic shooting guard/small forward who will be a very good transition player capable at finishing well at rim.

He's an elite NBA athlete, with a great body for a shooting guard and a stroke that looks good.

Cheeks will find time for Carney
Philadelphia Inquirer

Where does he fit? How much does he play when the regular season starts?

'I think we just wait and see how it's going to go,' coach Maurice Cheeks said yesterday, after practice at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. 'The way he has played thus far, I think he has a chance to get on the floor. That's what preseason games are for, to put guys in different positions, see if they can contribute.

At stake for Carney, the 16th pick in the first round of June's draft, is the possibility of cracking Cheeks' rotation. It's something he said he really wants, but won't be easy because Andre Iguodala, Kyle Korver, Willie Green and Kevin Ollie are all in the mix for time at shooting guard/small forward alongside Allen Iverson…Carney, a 6-foot-7 swingman, certainly caught Cheeks' eye during the 103-100 victory over the Suns on Oct. 10 in Cologne, Germany. Carney hit the winning 3-pointer with 10.5 seconds remaining to cap off a 14-point, seven-rebound outing. “He's still learning, obviously,” Cheeks said.

Extremely athletic swingman who will make a lot of spectacular plays in the open court….

Look for a lot of electrifying athletic plays with the combination of Iguodala and Carney on the floor at the same time for the Sixers.

No brainer. That's why I originally drafted him.

I agree, especially since I could not find any site that had him at anything other than F and still voted yes.

He even remembered to close it after 24 hours - I'm not sure I'd have remembered that - and I made the rule!
