View Full Version : Looking at the team now.....

do you think Peja might have been a better fit into the system then Harrington?
At the time it looked like we got a steal basically acquiring Al and letting Peja go without offering him anything.
I would just like to see who people would have rather seen on this team for the upcoming season. Forget what player you like more this is just asking which player you think we should have went with.
I really did like the way JO played with Peja in the team. I remember for I think 2 games JO had 7 assists and it looked like it could have been a great inside outside combo. I cant really judge how JO and Al will work until the season begins but I really dont think it will work out as well as I thought JO and Peja would. I hope Im wrong.

Not even close. I loved Peja's shooting stroke, but Al brings more to the table and is a better fit with the style and the team in general. He brings much needed leadership and personality to a club that had none at all.
Peja doesn't like the new ball...says his shooting percentages...

Al, by far. He does so many more things, is a much better leader, and isn't soft.

Al's a better player, cheaper, younger. Should I go on? I mean really we had no reason to keep Peja.

I'm not really a fan of Al, but Peja showed me absolutely nothing while he was here.

i think peja is great i think his shooting would be useful and would give us another dimention ... but however much we would get from him we will get more from Al ... and plus peja would be blocking Danny

For those that know....does an up-tempo style of offense require that all players hit their shots?
What happens when the offense can't hit the side of a barn....or if the defense simply clamps down on the team?
Does this type of offense necessitate solid shooters ( like Peja )?
Do we simply need players that can score ( like Harrington )?
I'm just thinking that an up-tempo offense is great to watch, can easily win games by wearing the other team down ( as well as our own ), but doesn't it require that everyone hit their shots...that it requires a solid Pass first PG that can properly distribute the ball......and what pretty much boils down to the entire team to be firing on "all cylinders" for the entire game?
I'm not entirely confident that we can "fire on all cylinders" for an entire season.

Nuh-uh, I'd definitely go with Al.

The only reason we would want Peja is his 3-pt shooting because we lack in that regard.
However, the reasons to get Al far out-number those for Peja. Pretty clear decision to me.

Al just because he isnt a pansy.

Al without a doubt.

Are we assuming equivilent contracts?
As it stands now, there's no contest. Peja's contract is ridiculous. I'd rather have James White.

Whos going to vote Peja? Seriously?

Three seasons ago Peja was a better player than Al will ever be. That Peja would be great. However, I don't think we'll see that Peja again.
At this point Al is a much better rounded player. His intangibles are a lot better as well.

Even at equal contracts, I can't pick Peja after the NJ series (and countless 4th quarters). He disappointed me so much...considering we won every game he played.

Getting Al back on the team not only replaces Peja, it encourages better play from all the hands currently on the team.
In euchre this would be similar to a "lay-down 'lone!"

Peja didn't fit in our team...he just scored cuz he had to...but AL is like a Family to this team...
