Toss up between AJ and Primoz. Have to go with Primoz.

I like JJ as a spot 3 specialist.

Ron by far would be the best to have back, but I'd really like to avoid dealing with that flighty attitude.

I guess I'm greedy because I want them all back. Okay, I want Ron back but without a mind of his own. :evillaugh

I ended up voting for good ol' Freddie Jones.

Jalen

Jax, Sarunas and Foster for Jalen and his expiring deal...Plus the dude can help out at the PG when Tins goes down.

I would like to see AC back on the team. The Pacers are going to miss his leadership and character more than his playing.IMO:)

Arrgh - I accidentally left off the choice that I would pick: Brad Miller :headache:

Brad's stats from last season:
GP MIN/G PPG REB/G AST/G FG %
79 37.0 15.0 7.8 4.7 49.5

Unfortunately I can't edit the poll, but you can always pick the 'Other' selection...

I agree with Brad Miller, although honestly I'm not too high on him. He would give us two things though: a decent center and a three-point shooter.

I think one of the things I liked the most about Brad was his ability to distribute the ball from the high post, and he was a guy the other team had to legitimately worry about for the 15-18 foot jumper from the center position.

Up until last year I'd have said Brad, but with the direction we seem to be going (smaller and faster), I wouldn't.

Primoz might work though.

Freddie sure looks good in a more up-tempo offense where he can fully utilize his athletic ability. I'm just watching them play Macabbi right now, and Freddie threw down a vicious dunk over some Euro. He's even making some nice backdoor passes..........something we never really became accustomed to.

So far with the Raptors though, he has been doing an outstanding job of getting to the rim. I think he has already been to the line somewhere around 30 times in the few games the Raps have played.

Austin, he should have always been a Pacer. I did like the Daniels trade though. I definitely wouldn't mind Jalen either.

Reminds me, at the game with MR there was a couple sitting down in the club level with matching #16 jerseys on. I felt such pity for them. :loser2:

The Pacers have scorers and big men, thats why the top priority should be a playmaker, a steve nash kind of playmaker, stockton kind of playmaker... especially when you have a big powerforward all-star like JO.... with other words, nobody in that list, even tho i maybe think AJ is the best PG Pacers had since Mark Jackson. :unimpress

On the other hand, i would pick JJ!! Pacers have absolutely ZERO pure shooters, pure outside shooters and thats really not good, seems to me (from the look of results in this list, Artest!? wtf!) like people / fans here really underestimate that we dont have any pure shooters (even Larry Bird himself didnt want a shooter in this team? WTF is going on?), almost like you dont care, its like if you really dont know what problem this will cause in games or you probably just think that all the slashers and 15-20 foot jumpshooting scorers we have now will overshadow that outsideshooting somehow, just wait and see my friends... but im not gona be here everytime and say "I told you so!".

With the choices given, had to go with James Jones looking at what we're
putting together right now. It wasn't easy passing on Primoz though.

If I could pick any past Pacer, for this team, would have to say
Mark Jackson.

Artest??? :suicide4:

Peja is my pick, late though I am in finding this thread.
Second would be, oh, Eric Piatkowski
Third, none of the above (nostalgia is for people who've already won a championship)

Pacertom, I thought of Brewer, too, but he's not an active player in the NBA now, is he?

Since he is my favorite player in the league, it would be natural for me to vote for him, but I won't because Indiana is not the right team for Freddy. Toronto is a much better fit. He is thriving in Toronto and will continue to. For Freddy, playing for the Pacers was like playing "Restrictor-Plate" basketball.

The ironic thing is that his new team will finish the upcoming season with a better record than his previous team. (Unless the Pacers wise up and trade some overrated (JO), undisciplined, uncontrollable (Jackson), unheathy (Tinsley) players.)

NorCal_Pacerfan
10-20-2006, 08:18 PM
According to that list, I'd have to take JJ. He's got the upside and we need his 3 point ability big time. If we lost Tinsley, then I wouldn't mind having AJ back, but my vote is for AJ.

But we already got back who I really wanted, so all is good.

IndyHoosier

I have to say that I voted for Artest. He is one of the best "Basketball Players" the Pacers have ever had. He's not a bad guy except that he fights with fans, breaks television cameras, asks for time off to promote a cd, alienates an entire fan base, fights with Pat Riley, changes his uni number as often as his underwear (guessing here :)). Never mind, I want to change my vote to "other".

In 5 years, the Pacers will always be mentioned with the qualifier, the team that traded Artest.

Rick Smits. His 15 foot jumpers were money in the bank, so he would really open up the post for JO and Al. And with Rick you HAVE to guard him with a big.

If I could have a "recent" (Hey, someone else brought up Rik Smits) I would take Mark Jackson. He was right up there with Reggie as one of my all time favorite Pacers.

Out of the poll, I would take a Jalen that was willing to "play defense" or PB

Now that i look at his numbers, I'm wondering why i voted that way as well. I guess JJ would probably be my other choice, but AJ is probably who we will need before the year is over. None of these guys are better than what we have now.

I loved JJ when he was here, but he is a one dimensioanl playert, and one that was not productive after defenses figured him out after the first couple of games.

I would choose Primoz, I mean Peanut Butter in a second too!

I have NO idea why a Pacersfan would really even CONSIDER wanting Ron back. Maybe something sadomasochistic, I don't know. I don't want to see him anywhere close.

IF we go a little further back, I have a hard time picking between Rik Smits and Mark Jackson too. Both add things we DESPERATELY need. I think I would go with Jackson as we are absolutely pathetic at PG currently.

The bad thing some might want to think about? We pretty much gave our first round pick away for the next draft, hurray! I wonder how the hell we are going to seriously upgrade our PG position.

Regards,

Mourning
