PTI just said he was. Because he was shooting at the the person in the car.

Didn't see anything anywhere that he was - if he was, surely it would have been reported that way since it would have been "hotter" news. I'm not going to check but the police blotter's usually available.

Haha, the first thing I thought of reading this comment was the movie Anchorman. "Go **** yourselves San Diego."

But back on topic, I was in the gym when I saw it. I still don't believe it though. There would be more than one station reporting it if it were true. I would also think the local stations would get wind of it before ESPN would. But who knows..

Star staff report

The Indiana Pacers practiced today without injured guard Stephen Jackson, but they expect him to return to the team Tuesday.

Jackson, who is recovering from injuries suffered in an incident Friday morning, worked out on his own today at Conseco Fieldhouse. He left before reporters arrived.

The Pacers play their first preseason game Wednesday, at home against New Jersey.

Coach Rick Carlisle said it is doubtful that Jackson will play.

Elsewhere, Indianapolis police released tapes of 911 calls (http://www2.indystar.com/images/graphics/2006/10/1009_rio/)about Friday's incident.

A woman who first reported the shots described for the dispatcher a chaotic scene of 10 men fighting, gunfire and people running all over the Club Rio parking lot.

The woman said she was there to pick up her friend when she saw the fight.

"You guys are all OK?" the dispatcher asked her.

"Yeah, we're all fine," the woman said. "As soon as we saw them start fighting, we backed up beside the building."

I just listened to the 911 tape twice.

The woman who called in makes the point two different times that he shot the first shot straight up in the air and then shot four more, implying they were not in the air.

It's hard to tell for sure, since the dispatcher is talking at the same time, but it sounds like she says, "He shot the next four at the ground."

"People are running everywhere" - woman
"Yeeahhh, they are" - officer coming onto the scene (I beleive), just funny how he says it

Her description sounds like a lot more than 5 shots. At the start of the call she says 1 in the air, 4 at the car (I think), but then later she says there is still shooting. Surely they could check for shells and his mag clips.

10 guys fighting is not Jack punched, then a guy tried to run him over. As more comes out I might change my opinion on the situation. Right now this is a pretty crazy brawl and more than just Jack obviously.

The good news is the description - "a little thin guy" "around 6 foot tall". Hey, thin is good, right? He's in shape at least. :D

Yeah, I think you are right about that. If they were into the ground then that's more responsible than in the air even.

Listening again I think too that it sounds like the gunfire was a big part of what broke up the situation, that it was still crazy when he fired off the gun.

The facts up until now haven't added up in the Pacers' favor, despite what's been said on here.

It will soon.

Is there any way to email ESPN or the PTI guys?

Not that I expect them to actually answer the email.

"They keep shooting..."

"They keep shooting..."

How many times did she say that?

Stephen Jackson of the Pacers was arrested for shooting at a guy who punched him. Your thoughts?

The reports I read said he fired warning shots. He shot AT the guy now? Those the reports now? Not good, not good.
It was during "Rundown".

Whoops. What reports was TK going by? Nice job ESPN, even our WTHR guy didn't miss this one.

...5 shots...
But the caller implies more than that. But do we know Sjax was the only one shooting? Maybe someone fired back? ...or joined in...

How many times did she say that? She was saying they keep shooting for like a minute, he could have started a war if he bucked for that long.

I guess he really hasn't had the munchies this offseason. I know that is not true, though.

Maybe the caller just was over zealous, they said they have video of it, and they haven't said was mroe than 5. So we know Jack didn't maybe somebody was firing back.
