View Full Version : Outside Shooting from 3 and 4?

Based on the fanjam reports, I have a question:

Could Al and Danny possibly fill in the need for some outside shooting?

I thought about this after hearing that Quis may not be a very good shooter, as earlier reported, and that Al looks to be a better outside shooter.

Personally, I was pretty impressed with Granger's outside shot as the year progressed. The further we got into the season, the better his outside shot seemed. And hopefully he is a gamer, because it seemed he had a pretty good percentage on important shots late in the game.

So, could those two possibly step up and meet this need/weakness currently being discussed?

Yes, I think Al's shooting from the 4 will be the xfactor. While we may not have one dominant 3 point shooter. We have three guys in the starting lineup who can hit a three reliably, Jack, Danny, and Al. Tins can be streaky but he has shown that he can knock them down when open also. Plus JO can knock down an open mid range J. I don't think we are nearly as bad of a jump shooting team as we might appear. We aren't amazing at it, but we can definetely hit shots.

I dont think we will have a problem with outside shooting after yesterday. Between Harrington and Granger we should be just fine. Josh Powell has a nice jumper from inside the arc of course. I think he hit every shot and if he thought he was going to miss it he crashed the boards.

People will be really impressed with Powell when they see him this Wednesday.

And on the bench we have our best 3point shooter, namely Jasikevicius. And White isn't too bad either.

I dare to say we have one of the strongest benches in the league.

I think they both have a really good outside shot, but I'm not thinking there is a need, necessarily. The new offense sounds like it's going to rely less on outside shooting. Danny and Al have the ability to shoot threes when necessary. Think of Detroit with Prince and Rasheed. Like Al and Danny, they both have other dimensions to their game which are more important but they can hit that shot when needed.

Sorry for the OT but,

Everytime I see a title that has "shooting" or "shot" in it, I'm like, not another Jax thread. It's like I really have to look to make sure.

Sorry, as you were.

That may explain why UB missed this thread.

When I first glanced at the thread title I thought " Outside shooting at 3 and 4 " .... huh, another SJax thread about shooting his gun in the middle of the night.
