Rick Carlisle will eventually sign his contract extension. Before he signs it, though, the Indiana Pacers coach asked two players if they wanted him to stay with the team long term.Comment (http://www.topix.net/forum/link/thread?forum=nba/indiana-pacers&artsig=36762e1818)

I wonder why he didn't ask Tinsley what he thought? Could something still be on the back burner involving him?

Also, how cool is it hearing that everyone is showing up practically injury free?

This is going to be a very exciting training camp IMO.

I think it is interesting that Jackson was one of the two.

Center John Edwards, acquired from Atlanta in the Al Harrington deal, will be out indefinitely because of a back problem.

There goes the season. How can we compensate for losing our 18th... oops...

make that 19th man?

;)

I do hope he gets better. Back problems suck.

Well if he had a choice between Tins and Jackson to ask...I would probably have chosen Jackson.

Bummer - well there goes my prediciction that Edwards was going to emerge
as our deadliest low-post scoring threat with that unstoppable
Abdul-Jabbar skyhook of his.

I dont think he needed to ask Jamaal what he thought. I would think it would be clear to everyone that Jamaal would rather have a coach who "gets" point guards.

If he asked Jamaal what he thought then Rick wouldnt be signing on to coach long term.

I am also sure that if you asked RC what he thought it would be clear to everone that RC would rather have a PG who "gets" coaches.......
