View Full Version : Pacers Digest Vote: #16 Center

08-03-2006, 01:19 PM
The goal of this project is to determine the general consensus on Pacers Digest of who the best players are at each position in the NBA: Center, Power Forward, Small Forward, Shooting Guard, and Point Guard.

However, do not worry about the positions. I have tried to put everyone at their proper position, but what I am trying to do here is vote for the best overall player, at the position I happened to put them. The objective of each poll is to determine the best player listed, not the best pure positional player.

This thread is to vote for the best remaining center in the NBA. You have 24 hours from the time this thread is posted to vote!

Once each position has 30 players ranked, the project will end, and a final tally will be posted in a new thread.

The top centers so far, as voted by Pacers Digest members, are:

#1 Shaquille O'Neal
#2 Yao Ming
#3 Dwight Howard
#4 Ben Wallace
#5 Amare Stoudemire
#6 Chris Kaman
#7 Marcus Camby
#8 Brad Miller
#9 Zydrunas Ilgauskas
#10 Nenad Krstic
#11 Alonzo Mourning
#12 Andrew Bogut
#13 Jamaal Magloire
#14 Eddy Curry
#15 Nene

Today's nominees* for best center remaining are:

Primoz Brezec
P.J. Brown
Tyson Chandler
Samuel Dalembert
David Harrison
Jeff Foster
Chris Mihm
Nazr Mohammed
Zaza Pachulia
Joel Przybilla
Kurt Thomas

* I can't please everyone with the position I put certain guys, so the way I see it is this:

If I've made such a colossal mistake, it can easily be corrected by you, the voter. How? I will always have "Other" as an option. All you have to do is vote for it, and state for the record in a reply which player you thought deserved the vote. If the majority of people do this, then that player will still win this poll. It just takes a little more effort then two clicks of the mouse. But if you're too lazy to do that, then you have no right to whine about it later. :-p

Zaza Pachulia. :)

Wow, that was fun to say.

Zaza Pachulia. :)

Wow, that was fun to say.
Fun fact: his real name is Zaur but he legally changed it to Zaza ala Nene. Remember when the Nene had a Hilario attached to it. Hilarious. Pun intended.

 Thanks, that probably made my day.

No problem. I'm full of useless trivia and factoids.

I can't believe Zaza is beating out Pryzbilla...

I'm gonna vote for Chandler and I'll tell you why. I got a quintuple double with him in a 6-minute quarter NBA LIVE 06 game versus the computer.

Bulls trade Chandler away in order to make room for Ben Wallace:
Wallace: 7.3 Points, 11.3 Rebounds, 2.21 Blocks
Chandler: 5.3 Points, 9.0 Rebounds, 1.32 Blocks (#1 in Rebs per 48 Min)

Wallace is 32 years old
Chandler is 24 years old

Wallace is paid 6 million more a year...

Who would you rather have?

GO PRIMOZ. Pacers need to push for him.

I'm glad to see ppl are jumping onto the wagon. I've been voting Zaza since 10th.

Zaza - 12pts 8rbs
JP - 6pts 7rbs
Both on bad teams, both hard to spell

I guess I can't stomach Zaza's low shooting percentage (for a PF/C) and lack of defense (though I do think he'll be quite good in the future)

Zaza is one of the best offensive rebounders in the game and actually 45% isnt all that bad for a big man.

Actually, you're wrong... slightly under 45% is the WORST of anyone listed here... IF Pachulia ups his defense, then its acceptable.. right now, its not.

He's still more of a threat on the Offensive side than Foster

Lost in the midst of the heated debating: Foster winning.

Foster, Austrialian for rebounding!

The homer votes are starting to get more and more heavy. Hicks add Jeffries to the SF poll
