View Full Version : Pacers Digest Vote: #15 Small Forward

Hicks
08-02-2006, 12:46 PM
The goal of this project is to determine the general consensus on Pacers Digest of who the best players are at each position in the NBA: Center, Power Forward, Small Forward, Shooting Guard, and Point Guard.

However, do not worry about the positions. I have tried to put everyone at their proper position, but what I am trying to do here is vote for the best overall player, at the position I happened to put them. The objective of each poll is to determine the best player listed, not the best pure positional player.

This thread is to vote for best remaining small forward in the NBA. You have 24 hours from the time this thread is posted to vote!

Once each position has 30 players ranked, the project will end, and a final tally will be posted in a new thread.

The top small forwards so far, as voted by Pacers Digest members, are:

#1 LeBron James
#2 Shawn Marion
#3 Tracy McGrady
#4 Ron Artest
#5 Andrei Kirilenko
#6 Carmelo Anthony
#7 Richard Jefferson
#8 Lamar Odom
#9 Tayshaun Prince
#10 Rashard Lewis
#11 Josh Howard
#12 Peja Stojakovic
#13 Gerald Wallace
#14 Danny Granger

Today's nominees* for best small forward remaining are

Shane Battier
Bruce Bowen
Luol Deng
Mike Dunleavy
Grant Hill
Darius Miles
Andres Nocioni
James Posey
Bobby Simmons
Josh Smith
Wally Szczerbiak

* I can't please everyone with the position I put certain guys, so the way I see it is this:

If I've made such a colossal mistake, it can easily be corrected by you, the voter. How? I will always have "Other" as an option. All you have to do is vote for it, and state for the record in a reply which player you thought deserved the vote. If the majority of people do this, then that player will still win this poll. It just takes a little more effort then two clicks of the mouse. But if you're too lazy to do that, then you have no right to whine about it later. :-p

Yep. Though, to be fair, we have no idea what Granger might develop into next season...like Marquis Daniels. It's hard to rate these guys. Basically, we've never seen them play in roles like these other guys.

Are people ignoring how Nocioni did in the playoffs when they voted for Granger?
22/9 against 8/5. This is ridiculous. His FG% was 60% and his 3P% was 48%<<<<<< and yet he gets not respect???

Not only that...but to repeat an old point...

Playoff stats:
Nocioni
22.3 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 10 threes on .476 3pt%, .560 FG%, .857 FT%.

Deng
10.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 1 three on .200 3pt%, .421 FG%, .571 FT%.

Battier
6.0 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 2 threes on .286 3pt%, .500 FG%, .333 FT%

I personally think Josh Smith is getting ignored... look at yesterday's post for his ridiculous 2nd half stats...

Josh Smith is coming up soon for me. It'll be a toss-up between him and Deng.

Why Deng over Nocioni?

Less of a scorer, more of a perimeter defender who can get dirty in the post. I like those type of players. (See my love fest for Jared Jeffries)

That's funny because I kinda like Nocioni because he is a fighter/dirty type player.

Really? I was fairly sure it was discovered in 1904 by Germans. Oh well. I was just trying to impress you guys.

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.
Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.
Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?
Ron Burgundy: No. No.
Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.
Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree.

And Chapu is better.
