Stat/history nuts out there (and anybody else who happens to know):

When was the last time a player scored 40 points in his last game before being traded to another team? Has it ever been done?

I think AJ may have just made history.

I still can't believe we just traded a player who DOMINATED jason kidd for Armstrong.

I think a better question would be, when was the last time a team traded thier starting PG to save a million dollars.

The only thing that bothers me is that we didn't even get a pick out of it.

Wilt was traded twice. I'm guessing he managed to score 40 at least one of those times.

Possibly when he was traded from the Warriors to Philly in the middle of the 1964-65 season when he averaged 34.7 ppg.

Wilt holds the record for career games with 40+ points (271). But 115 of those times came during the 61-62 season and the 62-63 season. There were 156 times during his career when he scored 40+ other than in his two big scoring seasons.

His other trade came at the end of the '68 season in which he averaged 24.3 regular season and 23.7 in the playoffs. It probably didn't happen then because Wilt rarely got 40 against Russell at that point in his career.
