Not sure how many people caught the interview with Kenny Smith. Some things that came up...

On possibly making the All-Star team:
Ron: "I'm thinking more about winning [than worrying about making the All-Star team this year]"

If given a choice, would Artest rather score 50 points and win, or hold a 30 point scorer to 5 points and win?
Ron: "I'd rather have my man score 5 points and we win"

I missed it, I heard on Monday that they were going to show the interview Thursday, but I forgot.

What else did he say

I watched it.

Of course, they showed a clip of every "sin" he committed last year - and they had him shoving the Butler kid in Miami from about every camera angle. :unimpressed:

So Kenny basically asked him why none of the non-sense this season, and he said he learned that none of that stuff had anything to do with winning.

Aside #1, he has usually said the right things, now he's actually following up on them.

He was, as usual, charming and cordial during the interview. He didn't get defensive - didn't make excuses - about last year's behavior.

Aside #2, For the life of me, I still can't figure out why he would want to shove Mel Daniels?

He also talked about a Glen Rice/ Jordan matchup from Jordan's first comeback season (MJ was wearing jersey #45). Glen went into that game averaging something like 35 ppg over his last ten games; and MJ held Glen to 12 points in Miami and dropped 42 points himself. I didn't catch the relevance (I always start ignoring the television as soon as Jordan appears on screen.) :P

They also played some of his music in the piece, only about a 15 second clip, but it sounded like some funky hip hop.

1. I doubt he knew who was holding him (Mel Daniels) because he was so pissed off at having beer thrown on top of him. Here's a guy who lives for competition and winning, his team just got their asses handed to them, and then some crazy from Beantown dumps beer on him. It could have been Godzilla tring to keep him back and he still would have pushed the guy (or monster in the example) away. If I recall correctly, Daniels got him good and shoved him into the locker room. I have to admit, I think that helped a bit with Ron's attitude, getting thrown around by a guy twice his age.

2. You said something about Jordan but I always just stop reading after the word Jordan is said, written, etc. Sorry I can't help on that.

The thing with Jordan and Rice is that Artest was mentioning that in situations like that, he thinks defense first, not offense.

I think he means that Artest likes situations where defense is the priority, not offense. And in that clip, it showed Jordan's D, which he liked.

I tried to PM you earlier this afternoon, but it apparently didn't work...

I get my tickets from my Pacers account rep. There are a certain number of seats "held back" for the visiting team. So I buy seats that aren't used by the players wives, girlfriends or concubines. I never know until I pick them up from 'will call' just where they are.

I haven't purchased them yet - they usually don't like to process my order until the (obviously) higher priority orders are filled.

I'm still waiting on Jay's_Wife@Section222 to decide if she's going or not (finding a babysitter for a Tuesday night is always a hassle).

If she decides not to go, I could probably get you a ticket (face value, I'd let you pick the price range if $$$ were an issue.)
